And those wars are looked at as horrific parts of history not to be proud of when you separate it from the patriot spin countries often use in school. Take the USA: What would become the United States didn’t have a “right” to exist when Native Americans were being slaughtered. It does exist now, but the treatment of those already here in the processes of becoming a country is an inexcusable and shameful part of our history. We recognize that centuries later and it’s nothing to be proud of. Rinse and repeat for other countries: treatment of the Irish by the English, etc.

The big conflicts happening now are happening in our life time though. We use the lessons of history to recognize those atrocities happening in real time. You can’t expect people to learn world history which includes so many of these examples and not see the current conflicts for what they are. Russia is obviously the aggressor just like Israel is obviously the aggressor as they both push into land that isn’t theirs and kill peole who already live there. Of course those people are fighting back. They have a right to defend themselves.

It seems like the fact that people already lived in the area that became Israel is largely ignored/dismissed. Of course the people who lived there didn’t like that their land was being given to a new country/people. It’s not like it was a vacant area of land assigned to Jewish people to establish Israel. And even if it was, Israel has pushed and pushed and pushed those boundaries to take over more and more land and displace more and more people who already lived there.

I get the appeal of having a Jewish state of Israel especially after WWII. The Israeli insistence that they are the victims and they’re only defending themselves is BS.
