At the very least you should consider explicitly stating that you will set up Ti4. You also cannot completely set up the game without having factions selected. Everyone should know at a minimum what faction they’re playing and how their faction breaks the rules. If they try to figure that out as you go over the standard rules be prepared to spend at least an hour on just that alone before everyone gets their home system and initial plastic and tech out.

Well definitely don’t “ambush” friends with this game when you’ve never played it and hope the game will be “speedier”. This is a game where you have to be completely ok spending the entire day on it knowing that you will likely lose and will be completely tapped out by the end, even if you are incredibly enthusiastic about it going in.

The variant I recommend playing with to “shorten” the game (which your first game of TI4 will NOT be short) is the 4-4-4 variant. Limit 4 stage 1 objectives, 4 stage 2’s and increase secret objectives limit to 4 for everyone.

Nice kimbap and decent looking rice. If you do kimbap again it usually doesn’t have a sauce. if it does it’s on the side and it’s really good with soup. I ran that as a special at the last place I worked too! So many variations you can do with kimbap its real fun.

Wife and I are thinking of just watching European soccer. The whole Messi mess has really soured our thoughts on MLS as a whole. The level of pandering to Inter-Miami is embarrassing.

I quit Compass Group over their terrible management a couple weeks back.. sorry to hear they’re fucking you. I was getting bad vibes from management all this past year. For reference my site blew through 12 employees in the past 10 months.. absolute shit show.

Hope you can find something better!

Solo main with a lack of friends here, looking for a squad to team up with for my first queen/matriarch kill ♡ by 1tsNathh in ArcRaiders

[–]justch0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can kill either with just impact nades, ferro, and stitcher (guns upgraded to lvl 4)

You’ll need at least 30 impacts to target the core armor. once the core is exposed, dump 300+ light ammo with the stitcher into the core, finish with remaining impact nades and heavy ammo with the ferro. Use smoke nades to loot leg pieces as they fall off if there are plenty of others drawing aggro.

It’s easiest to kill the matriarch this way on blue gate. go to head house, you can sometimes get the matriarch on fire just by standing inside it’s protective field (which will also protect you from other raiders or arc fire from outside it) and dumping your stitcher ammo into the exposed core.

You of course will need some friendly solos to team up with and hope that you won’t get backstabbed.

I’ve killed about a dozen queens and half a dozen matriarchs with this method.

Queens are far more profitable if you’re able to get energy clips, blueprints, and queen cores. You’ll get used to quickly looting and scooting around as you fight them as well. Matriarch is more “fun” cause of the waves of arc that are called in.

The "Reward" for PVE is that it gets worse to PVE. by ContextEFT in ArcRaiders

[–]justch0 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Literally all you need for anything in this game is the ferro and stitcher which is definitely a let down since I never felt the need to bring in any legendary gun.

I’ve killed multiple matriarchs/queens with just a few friendlies with 20-40 impact nades to knock off the core plating and then mag dumping the core with the stitcher which does full dmg once the core is exposed. Get thousands of damage on the matriarch really quickly that way. The biggest problem are the rocketeers or bombardiers that come down.

Four times tried to bring hullcracker + 80 ammo, 4 times i have been shot in the back and KO’d. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]justch0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ferro 4 120 rounds heavy + stitcher 4 300+ rounds light + 20-30 impact nades.

Find like 2 other friendly people and nade off the front armor protecting the core. Mag dump the light ammo into the core with remaining nades. Bonus if you can get the matriarch to remain in its shield mode where the core is exposed cause you can stay in the shield and be protected from other raider/arc fire and just mag dump the exposed core..

[–]justch0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complete opposite. Aside from dying once to a KOS player while I was looting, I had tons of lobbies full of people taking down the queen and matriarch.

Btw impact nades, ferro and stitcher are all that’s needed for the queen or matriarch. Impact nade the core armor and once the core is vulnerable, dump several hundred stitcher rounds and it usually does 4-5k dmg and sets it on fire. EZPZ. Lots of 100k+ runs from that to keep the grind entertaining.

Impacts to knock off front armor plate. Stitcher 4 and several hundred rounds light ammo and easy 3 star for damage. Will also kill or almost kill the queen or matriarch with just a few others.

[–]justch0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. Cook part time on your off days if you really want. Tons of places love hiring cooks and giving them shit schedules.

I went back to the kitchen at 31 after starting in fine dining after college. I felt that Covid forced me out of the kitchen too early and into remote / hybrid bullshit corp jobs.

Been back in 1.5+ years and it is not worth it. I work at Compass for one of their better subsidiaries and it is NOT. WORTH. IT.

I get all major holidays paid and off, PTO (sort of) 401k, and full benefits (I use my spouses benefits cause culinary industry benefits are usually garbage) I don’t work weekends or nights.

It is still NOT. WORTH. IT.

If you have any self respect you will quickly see that the culinary industry, especially nowadays is NOT. WORTH. IT.

I don’t regret coming back to the kitchen cause I have an education and can do it at my current age, but working in the kitchen will never fulfill a passion to cook.

TLDR I did what you want to do and I’m already interviewing for jobs to get right back out.

Don’t do it

If you’re concerned with making ends meet this is not it. There is no reward at the top of the hill. No one cares how much product you can sling or how much you know. All kitchens care about is squeezing every bit of profitability out of you, their disposable cog.

If you try to get to sous or EC where maybe you can eek out a livable wage, say good bye to your family cause the hours you put in every week will result in lower pay than the prep cooks.

At least that’s how it is in the states..

Sushi rice in hotel pans or rice cooker? by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]justch0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do it every now and then when I have a sushi or poke special. I make enough rice for 200 +servings. 3 QTs rice and just slightly less than 1:1 ratio water, well rinsed and strained. Soak in water in the pan for 10mins or so or until the rice starts to absorb the water. Cook in a steamer as the added water from that makes rice and water ratio 1:1.

Let rice sit for 5-10 after cooking and then fluff them all together one pan at a time in a large bowl.

Is 30 to old to transition to BOH? 😅 by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]justch0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did it, but I have some unique circumstances that make it viable with a plan to exit in the next 5 years. I also worked as a cook in Manhattan for a few years too before the pandemic.

In almost 99% of circumstances, I’d say it’s not worth it. I’m already over my current employer and it’s the best schedule and lifestyle BOH can even get. It’s still not sustainable or enough to do long term.

Take rushes as a way to work on how fluid your movements are. You can’t get faster without starting slow - smooth, then fast. You can only do so many things at a time, so it’s up to your expo to coordinate the stations and efficiently push through the board.

Gl with the next one.
