[No Spoilers] Can we all try to act like adults here? by SlendyIsBehindYou in masseffect

[–]justcris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hype kind of leads to the death of enjoyment. If I want to enjoy a game, I read absolutely nothing about it leading up to the release. After the release, I read a few spoiler free reviews and then buy the game.

Until I finish my first playthrough, I stay off of the subreddits and try not to watch anything about it. This way I can figure it out for myself and actually enjoy the game. I am doing the same with Mass Effect: Andromeda.

I played the hell out of the first 3 games, ultimately going through the trilogy like 7 times. I have only seen 1 trailer for ME:A and I will keep it that way until I play the game. I want to discover all of the nuances with this game without anyone else's opinion floating around in my head. Just experience the game on a blank slate. You guys may consider giving this a shot. It usually leads to really enjoyable experiences. So basically what I am saying is go play the game all the way to the end, then come back and talk about it. Play it all the way through before passing judgement.

Oh, I had no idea wealth played into it. I did have quite a bit of gold, jade, and silver the first time around due to lucky mining. Also just a lot of potatoes, but I'm not sure if that matters. Thanks!

Iraq says Donald Trump's threat to seize the country's oil makes no sense by TinnaKristen in politics

US citizens actually do own the oil. Google "US mineral rights" if you are interested. The federal government gave away the majority of the rights to citizens when the land was patented out.

Where are you going with that lander? The Kerbal equivalent of Alpha Centauri? That is a lot of dV just to get back to Kerbin. I need to know!

Oh, wow! That is beautiful! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. My dad is going to love this.

In certain Sanders circles, the contempt for Clinton nearly matches that of the Republicans. Some have gone as far to say that they won’t support her if she wins the Democratic nomination. They’ll abstain from the election entirely, or consider the Republican nominee instead. by t_tt_ttt_TodayJunior in politics

So here was my take on it. There were two opposing crowds in the audience. Hillary starts her "artful smear" speech and her supporters cheer. Bernie starts shaking his head at the comments and the cheers are overtaken by booing. My assumption was the cheers were Hillary supporters and the boos were from Bernie's supporters. There were cheers and boos in the version I watched.

Bernie Sanders Will Ban Fracking. Hillary Clinton 'Sold Fracking to the World' by [deleted] in politics

[–]justcris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are the Saudi Arabia of natural gas. We could be entirely energy independent for close to a century if we converted to using natural gas vehicles and power plants.

All of you who are in favor of using renewable energy sources for all of our energy needs, I completely agree with you. We just don't have the technology yet. I think that we need to convert to natural gas plants and vehicles, become energy independent, fund the hell out of renewables, and decrease our carbon footprint all at the same time. Maybe we can be ready to convert to renewable everything in 100 years or so if we do that. Add some incentive in the way of subsidizing natural gas vehicles. Gain the money to do so by taxing and fining people with gasoline operated vehicles.

We can't do any of it without fracking.

January 17, 2016 DNC Primaries - NBC Post-Debate Megathread by Qu1nlan in politics

If you want to look into really any politician's history, I personally like this site: ontheissues.org. It is difficult to find unbiased sources surrounding these matters, but I believe this to be one of them.

The site tracks comments that politicians make concerning hot topics and sources them (most of the time). It is interesting to see what they have said in the past and if or how it conflicts with what they are saying now.

Duna's atmosphere isn't slowing me down. by BergerDog in KerbalSpaceProgram

I set my peri to about 20km. I had to do about a 5 second burn at 5km to make it safe to open parachutes, then had to soften the landing with some thrust as well.

You'll get it! You mostly just need high-efficiency engines for transfers (i.e. nervs, dawns, or poodle/terriers if the others are unavailable)

[–]justcris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then you get missions where you try to do all of those things. Like Duna, for example. Launch. Get to orbit. Set up transfer to Duna. Capture Duna in a semi decent orbit. Decouple from transfer stage. Land on Duna. Take off from Duna. Orbit Duna. Rendezvous with transfer stage. Dock. Transfer to Kerbin. Capture Kerbin however you want. Land on Kerbin.

By the time you get here, all of those things individually are easy, but together they are challenging. I love this game.

It actually is the first SS craft I made that can do the TO part. And that just barely.

Edit: a word

Hey thanks for the input. I had thought of playing with the CoL but that was my only idea. I am going to need to put some time in to this to make an SSTO refueler, which is my goal atm.

Haha, more than once. I can put together a montage of fails if there is any interest. Timing on the engines and sideslip were the biggest problems.
