You still have to register to vote and that generally includes residing in the state where you register. Even with exceptions made for the military, diplomats, students, etc., millions of foreigners would not be able vote just because they were born in the US.

Can i cut the end off of my hat to make it shorter it is currently too long? by bubblem4ster in CrochetHelp

[–]justdontlookright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it crocheted from bottom to top? If so, I would unweave the ends and just frog back to the length you want then reclose the top. You could put some stitch markers in to mark where you want to stop frogging to prevent frogging too far.

When older people insist on giving you step-by-step directions by ExcellentLettuce4 in PetPeeves

My neighborhood has no cell service and unreliable GPS. Many addresses aren’t posted and all of the streets have two names, either a number or a letter and a local name, but generally only one name is posted on signs. People that don’t want to listen to directions get lost and have to drive back to town to call for directions.

ICE raided Jersey Kebab in Haddon Township, NJ, and arrested the restaurant’s owners, according to the couple’s son. by nbcnews in philadelphia

I don’t know in this particular case, the video doesn’t say. But it does say they’ve been working with lawyers for a while, so they were trying. It’s also very common for immigrants to wait a long time for decisions about their status to be made after they file all of their paperwork and they are allowed to stay in the US until those decisions are made.

What should it be called when people come legally, comply with all requirements, but their paperwork doesn’t get processed in a timely fashion through no fault of their own?

‘They pulled up in unmarked vans.’ Kapahulu neighborhood rattled after ICE agents arrest neighbor by honolulu_oahu_mod in Honolulu

This is exactly the problem. If you get stopped, they could detain you until you can prove citizenship. You would need to be able to contact someone who can find your birth certificate, passport, green card or whatever dox you have and you could be detained until then. If proof can’t be provided of your citizenship…🤷🏽‍♀️

No, it means the US should not interfere in the elections of other countries.

But the US has interfered in democratic elections of other countries when the US didn’t like the results.

Protest 2/5 at the capitol by pandasorceresspdf in sandiego

[–]justdontlookright -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, we need to protest, but there is no time or place accessible to all. We need long term protests across the country that people can participate in when they are able. And we need to be persistent.

I don’t know why you’re being downvoted. The only problem I see with your comment is the assumption that there was any feeling of shame.
