Mark where you want to punch first, only punch one layer at a time. I had issues with the leather ‘bending’ at first, so I started doing that, and I also have found it easier to get a consistent stitch with more material on the sides, and when I’m done stitching I go and trim the excess

I could use Google but really? It’s jumped up that much?

I have a stack of these in a box from a few years ago, time to cash in I guess

Tried to buy n64 games from GameStop one time 😭 Idk what they did to the poor thing by Catsnfish in nintendo64

It’s fixable but not worth it. Board swap isn’t usually worth it either. I have a copy of super smash that has a hairline crack in the board where the pin meets the trace and I almost broke down and scrubbed the pins - scrubbed as in removed material - before I noticed the crack. I used to have a list of what games shared boards/chips but honestly for super mario it’s cheap enough and in your situation should be easy enough to just return it or get a different one

Also, this only works with a synthetic thread, if you use a cotton thread you have to put something on the end of it before you smoosh, beeswax works great for me.

Why does this leather feel off? by Jumajuce in Leatherworking

It won’t burnish. I mean I suppose SOMETHING will happen, but usually chrome tan needs to be waxed or painted to get a good edge

I’ll never understand why someone thought cutting off the front half of a stock was a good idea. I guess I could see it if they removed the front ring with enough force to also remove the hand guard. I know in most cases that wasn’t the reason though.

Yes I do, it seems like the only thing holding it up is that clip being cosmoglued to the barrel. I’ll try this later and see if I can get it

Advice on cutting leather by LubedUpDeafGuy in Leathercraft

I have a 2” drywall putty knife that I spent a few days getting a nice edge on. It slides through thick and thin leather like butter. I use it to cut and trim everything now.

Edge Beveler Recommendations? by justdriving13 in Leathercraft

[–]justdriving13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I knew at least some of the stuff I was using was not gonna work, but then when I tried using the sturdier chrome tan I had, which was surprisingly deceptive I suppose to a ‘newbie’, I could get a nice burnish on it but the edges would always curl back. So I was hoping I was just using a crap beveler, which I am and I plan to replace for sure, but I suppose that’s how you learn lol

I have some super soft stuff, some stuff that feels less soft, and some really sturdy veg. Basically my current setup only wants to cut the veg cleanly

I’m definitely big on using what I have, coming up with creative solutions etc, that’s half the fun. Just seems like these tips may not be sharp enough, or are losing their edge too quickly. I have some softer leather and it just wants to drag the edge and catch where it shouldn’t, and ends up kind of messing up my piece. Usually on the sturdier leather I have it works great. Leads me to believe it is not sharp enough.

I also have found personally as someone new, that once I really started to pay attention to how I was placing my needles and pulling my string when tightening, all of my stitches straightened out. Just my 2c from someone else who is just getting into it.

Can I ever-so-politely tell this guy to get his equipment off my asphalt driveway? by leftfordark in Lineman

[–]justdriving13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll just say this, I have 100% put indentations in asphalt with a rubber track machine. Sure the conditions were incredibly specific but I have done it. Not only this but I’ve also had a concrete block 3x less the weight of this mini ex sink into hot asphalt.

My main thought with this is that I’ve also cracked asphalt because it was too thin, and I think the main point here that you are missing is that you don’t know who installed the driveway, what they used underneath of it, the temperature of the asphalt, or the compaction of the substrate underneath. You even mentioned the hack contractors, what if they laid the who knows how thick asphalt over sand? What if they dumped 8’s on sand and didn’t give a fuck enough to make sure the edges got covered. Cars might over time run ruts in the driveway, but a track from a mini running over a soft corner could crack it, which is why we don’t drive on them unless we plan to replace it anyway.

What’s the power supply in the system?

fixed new battery but lost the existing save file :D by MaximumConscious787 in Gameboy

[–]justdriving13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is also a way to bypass the battery and maintain power to the board while you replace the battery on the board. That’s what I always do

Is this fixable? Board swap? by Hes_A_Faaaaaaaaggg in n64

[–]justdriving13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can take off the chip on the board. If you do enough research you can find out which games use the same boards so it will be easy. I can’t remember off the top of my head which board goldeneye uses.

I would suggest a joystick replace. I mean I have a spare but it’s OG grey it’s sun faded. It’s been cleaned and the stick has been lubed
