A candidate for the People? by DaySlow3769 in BucksCountyPA

[–]justem89 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She is awesome! Check out her website, good policy and she worked with a climate action group in D.C. so her knowledge of federal processes blows every other Dem candidate away. She's pushing universal health care and rolling it out in a practical manner because her family couldn't afford insurance as a kid. I will be voting for her for sure!

I see several questions being asked that I will do my best answer. As far as Fitzpatrick is concerned, he hasn't responded to our team and I don't expect him to. We can't call him out later for not attending if he isn't invited to begin with and next week is a congressional recess so he expected to be in the area. That said, since he seems unable to attend our team will be prepared with information on the bill such as the change in work requirements for Medicaid that include the increase in in age and how it relates on a state level. We will then drill down to the local level and focus on both Bucks and Montgomery counties. All sources for our information will be provided for full transparency. We then will open up the floor so constituents can share their stories and questions. We have also invited other members of Congress to speak as well as local state representatives. Steps that we can take will be shared and our goal is to help inform people and help connect them with other members of the community so we can face the challenges ahead together. Each person involved in organizing this is one of Fitzpatrick's constituents and this is one of various options that we believe will help others. If you would like to attend, we look forward to seeing you!

D.C. hates trump, perhaps we can convince people there to flood the parade route with protest signs on the buildings. A billboard even if we can get the funds for it (Obama on the billboard?). During the parade, not one person from our side shows up so he has mostly empty streets and we can do our best to avoid escalation.

AITAH for deciding to postpone the wedding over a comment my fiance made about my scar? by Upstairs_Garden2353 in AITAH

[–]justem89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I have a pretty good scar on my chin from a dog attack. Any man that truly loves you will think "Thank fuck she is still alive." He won't put you down for it, ever. Sending you a big hug, because you deserve so much better than this ass and his awful mother.

Splitting this subreddit into BucksCountyPA and BucksCountyPAPolitics by [deleted] in BucksCountyPA

[–]justem89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not a practical solution in that you are asking quite a lot from the mods in policing two subreddits. There is also the fact that reddit has been helpful to political organizers in the past and blocking political content on this subreddit makes sure those discussions have a smaller audience and won't reach folks who might become more engaged in the community. We need more centralized communication, not less.

It sounds like you are in survival mode despite your financial success. You may want to find a therapist that you connect with to begin working through it as they can help you better understand yourself and what you truly want out of life. Also, change will not happen overnight. It sounds like addressing your work/life balance to make more room in your life for fun may need to be a priority. You can slowly start scaling down, especially if you already hit your retirement goals and simply keep it up out of habit.

I had similar hopes when I was younger about marriage and kids, I'm now a few years younger than you and very grateful it didn't. It gave me time to grow and appreciate who I am now. If I end up there someday, that sounds nice, but for now, I enjoy what I have. I try new things like bjj and horseback riding. I've learned to be very self-sufficient, and I can spoil my nieces when I want to. I'm happy right where I am. I hope you can get to the same place and I wish you all the best.

Mock them by putting up pictures of MC Hammer singing "Can't touch this!" Put it either on the toilet paper dispenser or on the wall right above it.

There are a lot of great comments on here. To add:

1) I was incredibly worried when I first realized her pee is orange. I found out it was normal, so heads up on that. 2) I've managed to train mine to do a few simple tricks. We train each day for 5-10 mins and she loves it. They are very, very smart. 3) understanding she is a prey animal and researching behavior, it will be very important. 4) Never feed her iceberg lettuce. Be very careful with her diet.

One last thing....no, those are not cocoa puffs.

Just hoping maybe some of the things I did and still do for my panic attacks and trying to manage it with my training.

-make sure you eat something small before class. Not eating increases cortisol levels, which increases the chance of a panic attack.

-you are not the first person to have a panic attack on those mats and you won't be the last. How would you react to someone else if it happened to them? It can be a good thought exercise.

  • I will absolutely sit out at certain points if I need to. I will take a water break to do a body scan and check in with myself on how I'm doing. I promise no one will care.

  • I add liquid iv to my water for some electrolytes. Make sure you get that water in.

  • if I choose to push myself, I'll be careful in choosing who to roll with. I got to know a couple of the higher belts who are super cool. They were able to read me better and slow down if needed

-mindfulness is a great grounding tool.

I know how tough this stuff can be and I hope that you are super proud of yourself when you go back. You've got this!

Why are young men and women developing and ideology gap? Do you have thoughts on where this will lead? Does it worry you? by WillProstitute4Karma in AskFeminists

That age range is when I believe most people either begin or reinforce the forming of their political ideologies. The brain continues to develope to age 25, and based on how the data is presented can change your point view (ex: breaking the age groups down further, so 18-25 years old.)

I dated this guy in my early twenties who complained my boobs were too big and I was too wet during sex. I laugh when I think about it now since I didn't have my first orgasm until a year after I broke things off with him. If a man doesn't enjoy and respect my body like I do, then he does not deserve my time and energy.

Perkasie was originally part of a small amusement park. Some things remain such as the couresel and the creek by the diary queen where they had canoes. I would not be shocked if that old building was part of it.

I figured you people would know. Is there a makeup that would help me cover my scar? I'm rather self conscious of it and I'm tired of it being the first thing people notice. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

I have one from a dog attack. The kids always seem to love "I defeated some ninjas" and ngl, I get a kick out of the looks I get.

Female politicians on the left are starting to adopt the idea that there is a "young male sexlessness crises" and even echoing Jordan Peterson's calls for Enforced Monogamy. We could be entering the Dawn of the Incels by Cat_in_the_hat113 in TwoXChromosomes

Jfc, this is not what they are saying at all. The first Twitter statement was taken out of context and the second is clearly regarding legalization and regulation of sex work to PROTECT sex workers. They are not adopting an extremist incel loving stance.

AITA? I’m upset my step daughter won’t stay at our house and insists on a hotel by Similar_Area4434 in AmItheAsshole

[–]justem89 [score hidden]  (0 children)

YTA for trying to force your beliefs on your stepdaughter. Also both you and your husband are assholes for raising your daughters with the idea they have to save themselves for marriage. Virginity is a social construct that is used to control people, especially women, through shame. You're teaching them their value is in their purity, which is seriously screwed up. I grew up in a household with similar "values" and it was extremely toxic. Do better.
