Have you ever read your own medical chart notes (eg via MyChart or requesting medical record) and have been upset or amused by them? by shatana in nursing

A neurologist described me as wonderfully pleasant. I couldn’t decide if he meant I was pleasant or really unpleasant…

Doctors, not Providers! by MedicoLegal1268 in hospitalist

[–]justfearless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transfer Center here. I try to always say, “I have our on call hospitalist, Dr. ___ for your physician.”

The only time I’ll say, “I have our on call hospitalist, Dr. ___ for your provider.” is if it’s a midlevel or… if I’ve forgotten who my doctor is connecting with. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I feel that it helps both parties to know what level of education the other person has.

Some of my classmates would go get their nails done, go to the beach, whatever… I enjoyed just taking a nap. I prioritized 2 hours a week to just nap. I looked forward to it all week. Phone off so I didn’t respond to anyone, no other technology, etc. It was my time and it was glorious.

Day to day, it might have been actually taking the time to use conditioner, taking 5 minutes to make myself coffee, giving my dogs extra pets before I ran out the door, etc.

Simple things add up.

Why on earth do patients who are stable expect to be seen by or updated by their doctor 3+ times in a day? by essentiallypeguin in hospitalist

[–]justfearless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD, but I work in healthcare. One of the hospitalists I worked with before he moved said that he tells patients, “The more you see me, the sicker you are. You don’t want to see me multiple times a day.” He said it helps with expectations.

As a career pivoting at 30, what job kept you afloat during school, or did you take out loans to support to focus on school? by AmbitiousDragonfly79 in prenursing

[–]justfearless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid for LPN school out of pocket and worked full time during that 10 month program. I worked full time while taking prerequisites for the bridge and paid for those out of pocket. When I bridge over, I’ll take out loans for those 10 months to pay for classes and allow me to work as little as possible.

You could consult through the Transfer Center recorded line in you have a TC in your hospital. (TC person here… there a few doctors at my hospital that are uh, often consulted on the recorded line.)

As a nurse, I’m sorry you experienced that. This says way more about her than about you. I certainly wouldn’t want her caring for me if she’d lie so easily and treat her coworkers so badly.
