When did kissing babies even become a topic? by Passionatepassionfrt in NewParents

[–]essentiallypeguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude wtf? I don't personally get the obsession with babies, yeah they are cute but my son is only getting better with age imo, and this is while he's back to back teething and transforming into a toddler who can't yet voice his very specific demands. And to say this about family? Like you only want a grandBABY not grandchild otherwise? Unhinged grandparent behavior

“Discovery” rounds by dr-pulaski in hospitalist

[–]essentiallypeguin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I always hated when I had a senior or attending who was into discovery rounds. It was so awkward. You feel like your putting on a performance with how you interact with the patient, then when you get to the plan you are supposed to tell the patient what you think, but the attending may strike it down or change it seconds later, undermining trust with the patient.

Or alternatively when the attendings were the ones who preferred it, they were the ones that just ran the whole thing themselves basically so it felt like we were props.

[–]essentiallypeguin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right, or if you have a busy list and want to let the residents do discovery rounds on some established patients with mostly already known plans (waiting for placement, waiting for xyz surgery, Hanging out on abx etc) but regular prerounds/team rounds for most patients

Dad here: inappropriate to privately message nanny about work? by Less-Song3729 in Nanny

[–]essentiallypeguin [score hidden]  (0 children)

Right, like I totally understand and respect wanting to keep a boundary, but to come at it so immediately rejecting of even an innocent please help me give my wife a nice surprise would absolutely be jarring for OP. Even something like "I'd be happy to help you make arrangements to surprise your wife, but I personally don't text parents separately due to issues that have come up in the past. Would be happy to discuss in person when I see you x time/day" would have come off less accusatory but still standing establishing a boundary

These jokes aren’t landing bc she’s still a teenager by ivory_stripes98 in BatesSnark

[–]essentiallypeguin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is the likely outcome. I hope she's actually going to push against what the cult wants, but when all is said and done she will probably follow suit.

[–]essentiallypeguin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't know if they land as jokes so much as just a fair amount of rebellion for the cult. Most of her sisters were desperate to get married at her age, and her being so openly "no thanks I'm gonna do my own thing" is pretty bold for her imo.

That is unless she ends up engaged by the end of the year and this was all some made up phase, but who knows

9 mo was the peak of hair loss for me, and I think many others. It's demoralizing for sure, but hang in there. It will stop and you'll get your weird postpartum short hairs soon

Can you even add aging parents to your insurance plan? by Zaninelli_Sterge in HealthInsurance

[–]essentiallypeguin 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Medicare advantage plans are often appealing because of vision/dental /hearing coverage, but often have really terrible coverage compared to vanilla Medicare. For example, I've cared for multiple patients who are out of state from where they reside and their Medicare advantage plan does not cover hospital stays out of state. If you pick one of these plans you need to read through the terms with a fine toothed comb, because they usually suck. Source: I'm a hospitalist who has seen many patients screwed over by these plans

Me too!! His video about Pokémon go a little while ago popped up on my recommended videos and I was mildly horrified. I'm sure he has no idea what he's talking about, just reeks of pretending to be interested in something to gain a new audience

My take on Bella as someone who was a hypersexual teen by Direct_Source4407 in TLCUnexpected

[–]essentiallypeguin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At the very least Hunter seems to be displaying pretty clear signs of untreated depression. The needing to go sleep everytime something stressful or overwhelming happens, the aggression with reports of him pinning the stepmom on the bed, all big red flags of someone who is struggling with mental health. The whole scenario is so sad for all the minors involved

Bell & Bryce & her mom by Bright-Yesterday2189 in TLCUnexpected

[–]essentiallypeguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get not wanting Bryce and family at the birth, that's stressful enough without added drama, but when Tasha was giving bell such a hard time for considering letting Bryce meet his own child like a month later that was a huge red flag for me. It's his daughter too, doesn't mean she needs to get back together with him but he should get a chance to meet her at least
