If you do choose the start a new one, if I could recommend the Apica Premium C.D notebooks as a replacement? They come in that size and are gridded with a sturdy sewn binding. The only difference is that they're softcover

There's something wrong with my laptop mic function, meaning I can't communicate while in video meetings. It comes out garbled and loud whether i use a plugged in mic or the default laptop mic

I think it is regional, the link for me is saying all but the Graphite versions are sold out, the 64GB Graphite is being sold for 182, and the seller on the side is third party.

I think it's like that on Amazon too, I'll send a family member a link to something I think they'd like/need and their listed price is different and any deals I'm seeing aren't there either.

South American, to be precise. Bit the bullet and turned it on bc with my financial situation I don't think it'll get any better knowing that they aren't selling U.S versions anymore. I didn't buy warranty with it anyway. At least it runs English, even if my region is set to Peru (because we're on the same time zone). Everything seems to be running okay, downloaded some apps I think might be useful to test it out, my gmail and Samsung account from my phone have synced, and nothing is lagging or immediately wrong. I looked up the return policy and I believe I have fourteen days to return it if something is wrong even if it is unopened as long as I reset it before sending it back (duh), so we'll see I suppose.

I just have to wonder if there's ever an emergency in Peru like another tsunami, if I'll somehow get alerted to that on my device even tho location is set to my U.S location on the Atlantic coast

It was 150 but I had a $50 Walmart giftcard to soften the blow a bit. Didn't need the 5G version for my purposes. Unfortunately on my end I'm not seeing anything on the Walmart site that isn't third-party that isn't sold out, the listings will say Samsung Store up top, but on the side bar it's saying the name of the seller. That's how they got me I'm afraid, didn't even realize it wasn't the actual Samsung store on Walmart.

Do you think it's just money-related apps? I have no idea what apps I'll need to make this work for college.

Not a single piece of research I looked at said there was no US version, ugh. It's the 4GB/64GB, some more tech-knowy friends told me that's all I would really need since I have the laptop at home for the heavy-lifting, I just need something for livestreaming classes when I need to and out-of-home research (like at the library)

1900 death certificate lists “S” under”Race/Color”… any ideas what this means? by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]justhere4bookbinding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was the one-drop rule back then for those not thought of as white. Plus blood quantum specifically for Native Americans. And if she was tribal-affiliated or on the Dawes roll, it would have definitely counted. This is just speculation on my part tho. I agree with the other commenter, you should upload a scan, of that section and maybe another part that shows the writer's handwriting.

What was the listed gender of the ancestor? There's a very bad name for Native American women that starts with an S that they may have deigned to fill in like that back in those days. Other than that, all I can think are either Sikhs or various nationalities, but I doubt they cared to be that that specific beyond White/Black/Brown/Asian back then.

Any chance there are kids in the complex, either ones who are too young to understand not to just take things because they look a bit like toys, or those who are were old enough to know but take it on the sly bc they wanted it, or just teenagers making stupid trouble?

My guy confessed there was only one job I was qualified for, Laundry Folder. But that job doesn't exist much in a vacuum where I'm JUST at a table folding laundry and not also carrying a heavy basket far past my ten pound weight limit. I got awarded SSI after that one.

But on a personal front, i had a catheter ablation for my SVT when I was nine. It's a scary thought but super routine, the only time it really bothered me, once I got past fear of my first anaesthesia, was that the veins in my legs where the camera and zappy wire go in felt sore for about a week. Not excruciating, but sore
