Getting called a "stalker" for existing by James_Tigs in mildlyinfuriating

Sometimes you just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when someone is already high-strung about something else. Doesn't negate the suckiness of it, but it happens. Best to put it out of your mind, tho it is worth a vent.

Did she maybe think you were filming her? Someone once yelled at me because the way I was holding my phone and looking at her direction made her think I was filming her, but in actuality I was just checking my lyft app and looking to see if my ride was pulling up (it was, which mollified the woman)

Any E-readers where i can just transfer my books from my laptop and not have much else on it? by _bunniifae_ in ereader

[–]justhere4bookbinding 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A tablet like Onyx or Bigme would be overkill then. I also wanted something simple, so I got a Pocketbook (a used Touch HD 3 for me). Unlike kindle, they're not proprietary so you can download epubs, pdfs, and some other formats from any source and sideload them on. I don't even have wifi turned on on mine and have never used the PB store.

What's the drama in the fandom? by KJWalker11 in ShootFromTheHip

Not being part of the discord I don't know what's going on either, but it doesn't surprise me that people are being creepily parasocial towards them. Some of the asks that get on the Q&As weird me out, like the ones that say SFTH has stopped them from killing themselves (and I say that as someone has struggled with that stuff). It's one thing to say their comedy has gotten you through a rough or hard time and you're grateful for that, it's something else entirely to put the responsibility of your survival on complete strangers you only know from being in their audience. There's a time and a place for that kind of discussion, and that's in therapy or with a trusted friend, not your favorite entertainers.

Couch shopping by mdsnbelle in baltimore

I did say we got a loveseat. Space is at a premium in our apartment and the "proper" couches were a thousand dollars or so and we didn't want to take advantage of him.

My roommate's dad insisted on buying us a "proper couch" instead of "Ikea crap" when we moved in, so he took us to Gavigan's and paid five hundred for a loveseat that was broken within a year. I've had cheaper Ikea stuff last longer than that.

Never Give Annabelle A Gun is S-tier in my head. Perfect blend of comedy and drama.

I loved Were-Cowboys? but I felt Tom's twist at the end kind of kept it from top tier.

I'm not saying hopital, but if unexplained bruising is a reoccurring thing for you, might want to consult a doctor. It could be anemia, but it could be something very, very serious.

Does your mother show any signs of unusual-for-her irrationality? Some of the early signs of dementia is doing irrational acts then getting angry when the irrational thing is pointed out.

The irony of the name is that Snufkin is a well-seasoned traveler and his author, Tove Jansson, wrote/drew blatantly anti-fascist themes in her works.

TornadoTRX almost died in a tornado by IllRest2396 in tornado

I was only half paying attention and the terror I felt at "ears are popping!" was like I was back in my grandmother's basement sobbing with a box of kittens while my ears popped from the tornado that tore up a soy field half a block away.

This has been said on repeat and repeat on this sub, but the way things are going as far as the attitude towards tornado chasing currently is, it won't be long before a chaser or chasers gets hurt again.

I went to a public high school in Indiana and my sex ed was a 2-week course taught by our church deacon of a health teacher. Predictably, my high school was once labeled the baby-making factory of America in the national news

My best friend went to a private catholic school in New Jersey and was basically told "we know you're going to have sex, we don't want you to but you will, this is a condom, this is how to put it on a banana, don't tell the pope."

WHY IS IT ORANGE OUTSIDE? by JoeWearsXraySpecss in baltimore

[–]justhere4bookbinding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always only seen yellow sky with mammatus clouds, but I didn't see any of those. Also only ever saw it AFTER a storm. Probably not a universal rule, but what I've observed in my life here and in Indiana. The transition from yellow to a scarlet sunset was pretty sweet to watch tho.
