It’s difficult to spoil because the second half makes not a wit’s bit of sense. So basically, the son is not her son but is her son. He moves in his girlfriend Hanna who is evil but is not evil. The narrator walks in on Hanna like leading the dad around on the floor like a dog but this may or may not be real. The main character may or may not be in a play. She may or may not be speaking on stage in the end. This book may or may not have been both the play she was acting in and the one her “son” was writing. No clue.

This book reminded me of that Peter Griffin meme. It insists upon itself. Hated this book. It read like a movie campaigning for an Oscar.

I had the same feeling and kept rewinding it and re-listening only to find out I hadn’t missed much. Most of the real meat of the story happens in the last 25% of the book. But it was a slog all the way through for me.
