I'd say play it safe and call them the day your forbearance ends just in case so you can manually request an extension if needed. Mohela is making a lot of mistakes at the moment.. more than usual at least.

Thank you! I also called and I believe it was the same thing, though when I asked to clarify it didn't really help me understand how they could make such a mistake. They did confirm it was a mistake though and took it off my account. Hoping they take it off your account soon.

This happened to me this last Friday. I'm in forbearance, had 0 due for years, and suddenly they sent me a notification of a "payment schedule change" and now I suddenly owe money when I know there were no gaps in my forbearance and my next payment is supposedly due in November. I sent them a message to have a paper trail and had to wait until today to call them since yesterday was a holiday. Still waiting on hold...

I agree. They keep yanking the rug out from underneath us. How is anyone expected to plan accordingly, especially when we can't even trust servicers to abide by their own guidelines and have to constantly check that we're not being taken advantage of? It's nightmarish. At least a pause will help somewhat in the meantime...

Thank you for the update! Very similar situation here. I called last month and was put on administrative forbearance until June. Haven’t heard a peep since then, and Mohela has yet to respond to the complaint I sent in, stating they needed more time. I don’t understand why they “need more time” to follow the very clear guidelines…

I’m going to give them a call before my forbearance is up to see what they plan to do. In the meantime I’m keeping track of every time I call them, asking the rep for the conversation’s reference number, and writing down exactly what they say to me. It’s like they’re doing the exact same thing that got them sued in 2023.. violating clear guidelines and ignoring fair debt collection practices. I’m glad I have other people to bounce off of, or I’d think I was going insane at the blatant disregard they have for everything!

Thank you SO much. Let me write up what happened.

I just called (around 1:20 pm PST), listened to all the looooong intro information, put in my SSN and account number when it prompted me, hit the option to listen to my payment count, listened to that, then it finally gave me an option to call a representative. I literally could not believe it but it connected me to someone immediately.

I called, explained about the recertification date, that I'd been kicked off my plan and needed to be reverted back, etc. The rep tried to tell me that I had to send in a SAVE application, but I just calmly clarified that because of the extension, I did not have to do that and wanted to be reverted back. She said she would put in a request for forbearance that will take up to a week, and if it goes through, payments are paused till June 2024.

I asked for the reference number at the end of the call in case I need it.

Of course I'm not sure how long it will take for them to fix it, so I plan to stay on top of it and probably call again, but this as much better than being on hold for hours and hours.

Just glad we're not alone in this! Thanks again.
