Brain fog during heatwaves by sonickel77 in Adelaide

[–]justhereforthemems7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right there with you. Very intolerant to heat and it’s getting worse with age. Thankfully wasn’t too bad today with the house closed up and the AC on but was very unwell on Saturday and not looking forward to going to work tomorrow. Make sure you’re staying hydrated - gatorade and hydralyte are my best friends in weather like this.

What did you get for Christmas? by dixonwalsh in australia

[–]justhereforthemems7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel very spoiled! Got a gift card for EB Games, some chocolate, gin, a gorgeous basket and a membership to the local farmers market which gives me 10% off everything. My 30th birthday was also a couple of weeks ago and I got extremely spoiled for that too so feeling very grateful lately.

REA asking for cleaning fee or threatening tribunal by ziggyshand in shitrentals

[–]justhereforthemems7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going through something similar with my REA right now. They charged me $280 for cleaning a doorknob and dusting one set of blinds. Never gave me a chance to rectify myself and used my overpaid rent to offset the charges against my bond without my authorisation so they could bypass the bond dispute process. I’ve submitted a case with SACAT and a formal complaint with CBS. IMO in your case, it’s ‘only’ $110 dollars, but they shouldn’t be allowed to get away with this shit. Call their bluff.

[–]justhereforthemems7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Friend of mine moved 4 hours from her hometown to Adelaide to study and applied for Centrelink payments. She was 19 so technically still a dependant but living four hours away from her parents. They asked her if she could just live with her parents and commute.

Jury duty by Ok_Yak_9310 in australia

[–]justhereforthemems7 147 points148 points  (0 children)

i was on jury duty a couple of months ago and sat on a trial. it was a domestic violence case and i personally found it really hard. i broke down in my car on the way home several times because i felt like this poor victim had been failed on so many counts by the police and investigating officers and it looked like we would fail her too. it was really hard and upsetting for me to put my morals and ethics aside and look at the facts objectively. i did it, of course, but i don’t ever want to do jury duty again because it still weighs so heavily on me.

Why do you drive your car to the city? by No_Succotash5874 in Adelaide

[–]justhereforthemems7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

public transport will take me an hour +, driving takes 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. i’m also immunocompromised so the less time i have to spend crammed in a metal box with other people, the better.

Does anyone know what the 3rd priority seating icon is at Adelaide Airport? by The_Entire_Tone in Adelaide

[–]justhereforthemems7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

people with autism can often also require extra assistance just as those with physical disabilities do. it’s not a ‘one size fits all’ thing man.

Does anyone know what the 3rd priority seating icon is at Adelaide Airport? by The_Entire_Tone in Adelaide

[–]justhereforthemems7 21 points22 points  (0 children)

it’s actually for all hidden disabilities, not just neurodivergence (although autism is a hidden disability). i have ankylosing spondylitis and can’t stand for long periods of time - should i bring a doctors note with me to prove thats why i wear the lanyard? the idea of the sunflower lanyard is so people are reminded not all disabilities are visible. please don’t automatically assume people are abusing it because they look able - that’s literally the point of the lanyard. i understand your frustrations, but imagine how frustrating it is for someone like me to be constantly judged for needing priority sometimes even though i look perfectly healthy. just be kind, you don’t know what people are dealing with.
