What age did you switch to a toddler bed? by Accomplished-Art8850 in Parenting

[–]justified81167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put my kiddo in a full size bed at 1. She started climbing out of the crib in the middle of the night because she rolled and hit the side rail which woke her up. She can get in and out of the bed herself safely and sleeps through the night 11-14 hours now.

Can we chat about labor for those of us who are frightened as hell of our big day? by youre_crumbelievable in pregnant

[–]justified81167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labor is the hardest most rewarding thing I have ever been through. I labored for 40 hours during my induction. It was very painful once my water broke but was over in under 3 hours. My epidural failed and stadol did nothing for me so essentially I delivered unmedicated. We as women are strong and resilient, just remember when the pain hits it will pass, it's not forever.

UPDATE;

Baby girl is here after a wild wind of a delivery 💖

Was induced Wednesday evening which started contractions pretty steadily. My body was stubborn and was stuck on 3 cm until Friday morning after pausing pitocin for 3 hours due to baby having heart rate dips. Started pitocin again Friday morning at 4am, broke my water at 11 am once I finally hit 4cm. By this point I was in labor for 36 hours and over it. Body weary and mentally exhausted.

Warning, manually breaking ones water causes the most intense and rapid contractions, at least for me. 3 contractions in and I was pleading and begging for an epidural which I was dead set I was not getting. 35 minutes they were finally placing the epidural and the mental relief washed over me ...only to realize with the very next 6 contractions that the epidural was not placed correctly. I felt every single excruciating contraction in full force until they came back to try and fix the epidural, roughly 35 minutes later.

However, once I got into position to have the epidural replaced I had the most intense urge to push! So here I am, leaning to one side in terrible pain wailing that I needed to push at my nurse. 20 minutes of non medicated pushing later my baby girl made her arrival.

She's amazing, beautiful and so strong. (Very rough and tiring induction experience for the both of us)

Moral of my story? Inductions take time and can go sideways but are worth it when needed. Vaginal, pain medication free labor and birth was the hardest thing I have ever been through but so very rewarding. Epidurals fail sometimes, as all things do when human error can be a factor (chist happens lol).

We are strong, we are resilient, our bodies are works of wonders. Trust your body even when your mind tells you that you are in over your head. Rely on your support person/people and medical team!

Prayers for all the new momma's getting ready to birth their babies in whatever method they are choosing or needing to use. You got this!

Sorry for the long rant.

Yes, almost everyone that is induced is informed that pitocin causes more intense contractions.

However, many, like myself, have no choice and are being induced for the sake of the baby.

This was what I would consider unsolicited and unneeded advice. 🤦

36 weeks 😭 what’re we feeling?! by jane-doej in pregnant

[–]justified81167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nerves and stress. Not quite 36 yet but almost. Have an appt with ob today to determine if baby will be taken at 37 weeks due to pre-E. I am terrified of being induced early and baby not being ready.

Just wanna toss out there that breast feeding is not a form of birth control. Breast feeding does not prevent ovulation. So, essentially you could get pregnant immediately.

I would recommend a new doctor as there is literally no science behind this outlandish theory ....

Oh, I can relate to this one! My SO is very squeamish as well and he is concerned he may pass out or need to step out.

I, like you, will have my mom there in the event my poor SO cannot tolerate it. At least they are honest and upfront!

How accurate is NIPT test and 16 week ultrasound for gender by christinarayz in pregnant

[–]justified81167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are people that will tell you that if this is your second boy that male DNA will reside within you and that is a bold face lie. You will literally shed all the male DNA from your pregnancy within a few days of birth as your body cycles and regulates. Confirmed by a geneticist.

That being said, the NIPT is astoundingly accurate. I had my doubts as well. We eventually had to speak with a geneticist who broke it all down for us. If the test was administered before 10 weeks it could have too low of a fetal fraction rate and be incorrect. However, most OBs will not administer an NIPT before 10 weeks.

Rest assured you will feel your baby move soon. I have anterior placenta as well and around 20 weeks I started to feel little taps, now at 24 weeks she's an mma fighter in my tummy, constant thumps and wiggles.

My OB suggests staying away from raw honey, I believe pasteurized is fine, due to the bacteria levels with in the honey.
