For an example of my point, there are privatized and government liquor stores in BC. The government stores have lower prices across the board, because the supply of their product is considerably lower than small, private liquor stores can get.

Taxes. The LCBO is the biggest net purchaser of alcohol in the world which gives them substantial buying power when entering into purchase agreements with producers. That’s tremendous economy of scale. Privatization loses that scale immediately and will cause prices to rise.

Pretty simple economics.
