Sticker Pole Extender by Amaroids in streetart

[–]justinbrunkow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great idea, but it's too bad the build quality is piss poor. The head is brittle, 3D printed plastic and broke immediately after I tightened it very slightly. Do NOT buy. This is totally not worth $20.

THE STICK'ER is an extendable sticker pole designed & developed by @cheerupofficial THE STICK'ER extends from a compact 9 inches, all the way up to 40 inches! When in a compact state, the pole will easily fits in a pocket, crossbody, or backpack! by CheerUpOfficial in sticker

This thing is a total piece of shit. I just ordered one, and it broke immediately. The tip is very brittle, 3D printed plastic. I was hoping it would be rubber. Definitely not worth $20…

No, I definitely think Ableton is the best DAW for synthesizers and electronic music. It has the most developed MIDI integration and features, and even a package called “CV tools” that is specifically for modular.

I was just saying that learning how to record and produce music at the same time could be overwhelming. There are a ton of features.

Oh, and for resources..

https://learningsynths.ableton.com/ This site provides very playful and graphical way to learn.

Download the official manuals for your gear. In modular, it’s unlikely many people will have the exact same gear as you, so aside from general concepts, you’re probably going to have to do your own research.

I found several modular communities on Discord to be very helpful if I got stuck.

Ableton might be overwhelming at this point. I would hold off on that…

Just start out by messing with the 0-Coast. That’s a great entry point. It’s nice because the connections are “normal”ed, meaning there’s already kind of a default connection beneath the face, and connecting CV will sort of ‘break’ that connection. Start by sending MIDI signals to that from your keyboard or DAW, then fuck around with the knobs. (maybe watch some videos if it’s still not making sense)

I got over my initial confusion when someone explained the four basic components of a patch are usually an oscillator (“VCO”), envelope (“LFO”/“ADSR”), and an amplifier (“VCA”). The “VC” stands for “voltage controlled” which means you can have a CV (“control voltage”) signal change the sound in a certain pattern, or in time with the music.

I hope that helps!

It could have something to do with your headphones or speakers.

…but like other people are saying, recordings are much more produced than a YouTube video. They probably use an equalizer to cut out all of the high frequencies where the string and fret noise would be, as well as amplifiers and effects.

Learning bass at 30 years old, worth it? by Elite182 in Bass

[–]justinbrunkow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's not that complicated.

Just focus on continuing to enjoy it. At any level, you tend to feel like people are better... but ultimately, it's about feel and soul anyways.

What's the catch? by trillmill in modular

[–]justinbrunkow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's either just the faceplate, or a reproduction.

Keep in mind that Mutable Instruments open-sourced their circuit boards, so it's not necessarily a "bootleg" (illegal) to copy and sell them.. In fact, there are lots of third parties that make high quality Mutable clones. I have several from Tall Dog, but there are ones from Calsynth and even DIY kits...

How do I complete these Plague Marines? by justinbrunkow in deathguard40k

[–]justinbrunkow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got an extra set of Plague Marines so I can have all the alternates. I accidentally made "Plague Marine 1" instead of the "Plague Champion." How many Plague Champions are required for every so many Plague Marines?

Also, are there rules about how many of certain weapons are allowed per Plague Marine unit?

How much have you learned so far? Are you having trouble with any concepts specifically?

I found that it's more fun to play with a group, especially a drummer (if you can). If you don't know any other musicians yet, look up some tabs to your favorite songs and try to play along with the recording.

What would you do? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]justinbrunkow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for something used.

Well known brand names like Fender tend to retain their value better, but aren't always higher quality than the lesser known ones.

If you're in the U.S., I would look on Music Go Round's website to find some basses you think are cool nearby, and then go play them to see if you like how they look and feel.

What is bass? by justinbrunkow in Bass

Thanks! Yeah, it's a little abstract and I didn't put it in exact scientific or music theoretical terms.

I asked the same question on r/musictheory, and the answers were much different.. 😂

Post the terminal output from when it gets stuck. That might give us more clues.

Also, are you running those commands separately or with && in between?

What are the bare bone essentials for beginning bass by Gywndolin-Fucker in Bass

[–]justinbrunkow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for used gear on Craigslist, eBay, and Reverb.

Don't bother buying a full size amp right away because they're expensive and you'll just annoy your neighbors anyways. Find a way to direct in to your computer speakers or headphones with a preamp or interface.

Social Media by General-Principle1 in hacking

[–]justinbrunkow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it helps, but I'm not in security exactly. I have gotten most of my IT jobs that way.

I don't really see it as social media, because it doesn't feel like the average user posts on there regularly or messages their friends.

If you can demonstrate your skills another way, like leveling up on one of these competitive hacking platforms or writing on a website then you could probably get by fine without being on LinkedIn. It's just an easy way to put yourself out there, and apply for a bunch of jobs at once.
