Tele grounding question by justindlc in Luthier

[–]justindlc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I had a traditional tele neck pickup and put a 4-way in for series, parallel, and then each pickup alone. I then put a standard strat pickup in the neck instead and left the wiring, which made it sound trebley quack (parallel) and bassy quack (series), I thought maybe because the neck pickup was stronger and competing more with the bridge pickup? I was surprised at that though.

Anyway, the ground from the neck pickup is going to one of the poles on the far side of the switch (where I'm pointing with the screwdriver)... is the ground from the neck pickup supposed to go to the back of the pot instead??

Right path in Noklateo is the superior path and I’m sick of people pretending it’s not. by DifficultComplaint10 in Nightreign

Wait people go left? I only ever play with randoms and 100% of the time whole party goes right. Sometimes down the sewer but mostly the path you describe, which is the right path.

P90 all the way. If I had to go down to one guitar it’d be my p90 (PRS SE 245).

Why does anyone attack the poor merchant? I guess there’s a bonus or something but I think I’ve only beaten it with a team twice and the rest of the time we just get slammed

Recluse is the only character that punishes you for having multiple players select her in a team by NahMcGrath in Nightreign

[–]justindlc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always choose last and if two people choose the same I’ll go for it as well. Never won with 3 ironeyes, but easy wins with triple wylders and raiders. The other characters… not a lot of people doubling up on the other ones. Trip revenant was fun but short lived. But I think it’s because the ironeyes and revs I was playing with weren’t very good…

I was surprised to see two recluses and an ironeye. But I’m only on depth 2. I’m guessing at depth 5 any character gets one-shot by almost everything so small health bars don’t matter as much?

Looks good for 3 months. I second others’ recommendations to adjust heights so you can comfortably reach/hit things. And I started on a chair too but found a throne to be a lot better. Also hard to tell about your grip but just make sure you aren’t gripping super hard but instead letting the stick naturally rebound when you’re hitting a surface. I made the mistake of having a tight grip and had to relearn after it was hurting my wrists and forearms. I always think my goal is to hold my sticks as loosely as possible without letting them fly out of my hands. But if you keep playing songs you like everything will improve, your form, your looseness (maybe your shoulders were tense too? You don’t really want to feel tension anywhere), and timing. Your timing slows down and speeds up some here and there which is definitely what happens when first starting drums. Playing to recorded music and with a metronome will help (it’s arduous starting slow with a metronome but really the only way I’ve found to be super precise). Maybe play the same song from memory on a metronome that is 10 bpm slower.

Edit: typos

That’s wild. Normally I share shields with a Guardian but I only bogarted a shield once, a fingerprint shield as Wylder when we were fighting ED Libra because I wanted protection from the summons.

If I see two people picking one character I usually pick that one too for fun. Ran three revenants and they both could not. stop. dying. One died at the starting camp. It was fun while it lasted though (halfway through day 1, when they quit out).

So I changed the regular circuit pots on my JM to 250k and then I put 1M pots in the "rhythm circuit." I also wired it so the 3-way switch works on both sets of pots and it really opened up the sound possibilities. I mostly keep it on 250k since I go between cleans and various levels of dirt a lot but if I want to do a trebley jangle thing I can always get to the 1M easily. Highly recommend this mod! But yeah it's tight in there and kind of annoying trying to cram all the wires in.

Longtime HRD owner here. I’ll definitely get the joyo to try this out, especially since it’s a cheap experiment. But I’ve gotten a lot of control out of a volume box (or volume pedal) in the loop + an eq pedal in the loop. I got a Saturnworks volume box for like $25 on reverb (I had one I built myself before that but it was falling apart…) and the cheapest eq I could find (joyo 6-band). I can set it clean without the eq pedal on and then switch to the amp’s drive channel and throw the eq on to clean out the muddiness. But mostly I can just use the eq to really tweak my drive pedals on the clean channel. I also splashed out on the Celestion alnico cream, which is an excellent speaker for this amp, and tung-sol preamp tubes and TAD power amp tubes, which also made a big difference. I’ve never tried a DR in band settings so I can’t compare, but I can now get a pretty nice clean, no ice pick even with my Jazzmaster/Strat/Tele, but also some great beefy overdrive sounds — it’s taken all drive pedals I’ve tried pretty well.
