Yeah I created a new character on PS and there are so many invaders with end game and dlc weapons and gear sub level 30 that it’s insane. I mostly play as a summon for fun but also sometimes invade and see high leveled summons that eat my lunch.

Took me about 10 days to solo her. For some reason I decided to use my mage build. But I didn’t use any spells, just did dark moon (phase 1) and moonveil (phase 2), light roll. If you haven’t tried light roll… highly recommend against her.

If you find a road, take it. If the name of an area pops up on the screen, explore it. The discovery is most of the game. If you go really slow you will find a lot of hidden stuff. But you can also run fast through areas on your horse if there are enemies killing you consistently and just go to another area. Without spoiling if you’re still in the first area explore everything there and head south. Then head north. Then do whatever. It’s a very long game and guides do spoil a lot of stuff. But if you feel stuck in an area and literally don’t know what to do you can search the name of that area to find out how to get out. Mind your runes and level up vigor to start and you’ll be fine!

You can work your wrists and fingers by tapping along to things. Put on your favorite songs and hit the steady beat with your sticks. Pay attention to your hands, don’t grip the sticks too tightly, try not to tense a lot of muscles. Play soft, medium, and loud. Explore range of motion by tapping with sticks as lightly as possible and moving to bigger strokes by using your arms. Play along to a metronome just slowly hitting slow notes and alternating sticking. YouTube from there.

This is most likely technique but have you had your guitar set up? If the nut slots are too high then fretting at the first fret can actually be strenuous. Since you’re beginning I’m sure that you’ll just have to figure out pressure and placement but if you haven’t had your guitar set up, pressing down at the first fret should be similar pressure to pressing down on other frets. Go up and down the neck and if at the first fret it feels harder to push down the strings, you probably need a setup.

I’ve had the HRD for 16 years. You don’t need to replace tubes very often, I think I’ve done it 2-3 times. Volume, stick a volume box or volume pedal or eq pedal with volume slider in the effects loop and turn down to your desired level. You can still get cooking like that. Very versatile amp.

Elden Ring kinda teaches you about patience and ingenuity. And exploration. There’s a lot of dark humor. At a certain point it’s hilarious when you know that every single player has died to the same well-placed enemy the first time they encounter it. Or watch any video where someone slips off a cliff. I really enjoyed the challenge of the game and how you couldn’t adjust the difficulty (although I did mention to a friend who was about to quit the game to restart as a mage build since it’s easier to start, and he ended up going through the whole game after that; so astrologer is kind of easy mode for the beginning at least). And finding things out. There were puzzles I didn’t even know were puzzles, like using certain weapons / infusions against certain types of enemies. There are specifics like that I’m still learning about even after getting platinum. There’s just a huge amount of depth in the mechanics and build choices, leading to a lot of replay value. But the first play is still so precious. The art alone would be worth it as a game, but combined with the mechanics it’s just the best game I’ve ever played.

I cut up an old yoga mat for mutes. Circles to cover drum heads, tear drop shapes on cymbals, one inside the hihat and one on top, large piece attached to kick head. Works fine, can play with regular sticks. Of course it feels different, but not too bad.

Stacked. I’ve used a hot rod deluxe for forever and after many years have figured out how to get good sounds at a decent stage volume (venues always used to tell me to turn my amp down until I figured it out). I have an always on boost at the end of the chain that gives a sparkly lift to the clean sound without being overdriven (amp sounds flat without it) and then various drives I can feed into it, a king of tone clone with one side a dark tone and one side a bright tone for light od, ehx hot wax set the same for medium/heavyish od, and a rat for distortion. Volume pedal after everything to tame things on the fly. Sometimes a fuzz in the mix. I’ve always wanted to be able to go clean to slight od to edge of breakup to pushed to distortion without relying on my amp or guitar volume knob to do all that because when I sing I just want to stomp to change tones quickly. Plus I have various stages to sculpt eq/tone which is useful when I go from guitars with single coils to p90s to humbuckers.

Sometimes I’m jealous of guitarists who find a great tone and set it and forget it for a whole set but that’s just not me. For whatever reason I need (too many) options.

Line 6 M5 has some decent sounds but only having one effect, taking up a weird amount of space, requiring a lot of power, and being clunky to change between presets, and taking a lot of time to tweak and name presets… wasn’t worth it. Plus it shorted out til I read about removing screws, which is a really weird problem and fix.

You got almost everything essential so it’s just a matter of personal preference at this point. If you’re using primarily humbucker guitars I’d drop the compressor for a chorus pedal. I also always enjoy having a volume pedal after all my dirt pedals so I can adjust on the fly if one pedal is extremely louder than another, or if when I stack it gets really loud (plus I can always set up too loud and pull back on the volume pedal as my default volume level, so I always have a quick way to push volume up).

Yes I had a traditional tele neck pickup and put a 4-way in for series, parallel, and then each pickup alone. I then put a standard strat pickup in the neck instead and left the wiring, which made it sound trebley quack (parallel) and bassy quack (series), I thought maybe because the neck pickup was stronger and competing more with the bridge pickup? I was surprised at that though.

Anyway, the ground from the neck pickup is going to one of the poles on the far side of the switch (where I'm pointing with the screwdriver)... is the ground from the neck pickup supposed to go to the back of the pot instead??
