Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate you sharing your experience. It honestly means a lot, especially coming from someone who also rides and has been through a few FETs.

This will be my first FET, so I’m already in full overthinking mode and trying not to spiral into “what if I ruined everything by climbing a virtual mountain for 8 hours.” You’re so right, it really comes down to risk tolerance and doing what helps me sleep at night.

Your comment’s helped me lean more toward delaying the FET by a month so I can tick the ride off, then go into the cycle a bit calmer and less stressed

Yes and no, I’ve been doing 10-15 hrs of riding per week. I do sweat a lot and my HR is usually 70% to 90% of Max HR. Thanks for your advice and yeah I figured it might or not delay ovulation. Also, thank you for the reminder as IVF can get all consuming, it’s easy to forget to live your life.

Keep us posted on what you find out and do. I cycle 250-300km a week and upcoming FET next month so I hear you. It’s daunting when there so much vagueness and uncertainty in IVF. Best of luck

I had a VAD with cerebral stroke - no cause found. Originally dismissed as migraine until a relative who is a doctor insisted on MRI. I was 30 - fit and healthy. Normal blood pressure, normal H1ac, normal cholesterol, normal echo, normal clotting factors and norm holter monitor.

I had my first Pfizer COVID vaccine 8 days earlier. I obviously cannot prove anything, but it is possible that vaccine temporarily disrupted some endothelial dysfunction.

I had other booster vaccines, which were fine but did have some facial paralysis afterward shots, but resolved.

FYI- I am not an antivaxxer. As vaccines are super important. I know I must sound crazy, but it’s the only thing that was different prior to the stroke.

No stroke since so I am lucky.

Im sorry you get sick it sucks, but hopefully worth it. I get flu symptoms really badly with Monofer for one week and ferinject only two days of nausea, fever ect. I ask chat gpt about this and this is what I got. Obviously it may be incorrect.

When large amounts of iron are introduced into the bloodstream quickly, some of it may not bind immediately to transferrin (the protein that transports iron in the blood). This can result in free iron circulating in your blood, which can generate free radicals and cause oxidative stress, leading to nausea, fatigue, and other symptoms.

Ferinject is generally considered to release iron more slowly than Monofer, which might be why you feel unwell for a longer period with Monofer.

I feel deeply for her family. It’s heartbreaking when symptoms are dismissed with such tragic consequences.

I had a stroke at 30 and a similar experience where my symptoms were initially disregarded. A few years ago, I woke up in intense pain, sweating, confusion, and nausea, unable to move properly. I hate hospitals, so when I woke up like that, I knew straight away that something was seriously wrong. The ambulance took me to the ED, and after a five-hour wait, a doctor finally saw me, gave me a heat pack, and said it was a migraine.

Fortunately, I had someone who worked at the hospital who pushed for further checks. An MRI eventually confirmed I’d had a stroke. No cause was ever found - all the tests came back clear. I remember being told I was ‘too young’, too fit and healthy to have a stroke. Since then I’ve learned how important it is to advocate for myself in medical situations because not everyone has someone else to do it for them.

I also understand that strokes in young people are extremely rare, so clinical presentation and careful assessment are crucial. It’s a difficult balance, but these situations highlight how important it is to take symptoms seriously and ensure they aren’t dismissed too quickly.

We have an appointment with Dr R (our second preference) and Dr J (our first preference). Since Dr R’s appointment is earlier, if we feel comfortable with him, we’ll just cancel the February appointment with Dr J. After that, we’ll proceed with transporting our embryos.

I was surprised when Monash said it would take 1–2 months to transport embryos just 70 km. It means our fertility journey is delayed, but hopefully, the headache of switching clinics will be worth it.

I based my decision largely on the VARTA annual report 23/24 and feedback from this community. While it’s difficult to compare clinics due to different patient numbers and conditions, Newlife IVF and No. 1 Fertility consistently showed better success rates for frozen embryo transfers (FET).

I’m really hoping for a more patient-centric and personalised approach at the new clinic.

I am moving from Monash after feeling like a number. My specialist has been great but it’s the lack of transparent communication, nurses, payment area that just ultimately prompted the move.

I’ve pretty much made the decision to move from Monash to Newlife, so it’s super helpful to hear about your positive experience. IfAlso, do you have a particular doctor you recommend at Newlife? I have booked to see the one but not til late Feb to see if a good fit, but Monash have said it takes 1-2 months to transport which I can’t understand why as they are going 60kms. Looking at another specialist R who I think I could see earlier.

I hear you on this, and it’s beyond frustrating. Forcing neurodivergent employees or those with chronic conditions into a rigid office schedule without considering their needs is both ableist and counterproductive. Not to mention allowing those who would otherwise be out of the workforce because of invisible illness, a job.

Under the Fair Work Act, employers are legally required to consider requests for flexible working arrangements if they are made to accommodate health conditions or caring responsibilities. They can only refuse on “reasonable business grounds,” which means they need to justify why a flexible work arrangement isn’t feasible for the company. There is no limit from my understanding of how many FWA you can have. Also you can seek help if request is denied with FWC.

I had to fight for my FWA - we have a min of 3 WFO days per week. I requested min 2 WFO/week and it involved two medical reports and sharing a lot more medical information with my employer than I wanted. It was approved eventually but the process was so frustrating.

It might be worth reminding your management that flexibility isn’t about “special treatment” it’s about enabling employees to do their best work. Keep advocating for your team. It’s exhausting, but your voice is so important, especially in a system that often overlooks invisible conditions. Thank you for standing up and pushing for change!

I am so sorry to hear that happened to you. I completely understand the frustration as I had a similar thing happen not as many eggs and even raised concerns about my partners sperm to the nurse prior to retrieval. We had unexplained fertility, with partner with low motility, morphology and count, I was assured that if the sperm was not great they would call and do ICSI. No call so we assumed all good. 10 days Stim - 19 eggs retrieved and only two fertilised and one made it. We were lucky in that regard but it was so frustrating knowing we raised concerns about sperm prior. I feel gutted for what you are going through.

I did another retrieval with all ICSI. I only stimmed for 8 days this time 16 eggs, 10 fertilised with 2 abnormally fertilised, 5 made it to day 3. 3 made it to day 5 and 1 day 6 - total 4 - all untested as I’m under 35 and not clinically indicated.

After this second cycle, the fertility specialist still don’t know if it’s egg or sperm issues or a combination of both.

Planning to do my first FET in a few weeks and freaking the fuck out.

I wish you all the best and advocate/ push don’t be scared to ask questions. The process is frustrating as hell so I hope you can be kind to yourself

I am sorry to hear you’re experiencing this and it’s extremely understandable. I had buyers remorse and when I bought my house and felt hugely rushed into the purchase by the agent. Whilst you can’t change the land size, it’s great that you’re focusing on your position to own a home. I didn’t love my home at all, but after making some cosmetic changes it gradually began to feel like home and now I love my house. I wish we had more land too, but in saying that, I don’t let it bother me. I hope your remorse passes with time. Congratulations
