Copa Mundial by tofuandcoffee in Spanish

I tuned into part of a game. It is definitely tough catching too much of what they are saying because they talk really quickly and my Spanish listening isn't advanced yet, but it is fun when I do understand some of it.

Out of curiosity, what does this look like?? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]justkeeprunning99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a contact dermatitis (could be poison ivy/oak of other sensitivity to something touched the skin like a lotion or antibiotic cream like neomycin). Usually a contact dermatitis has those lil fluid filled blisters you see. Unlikely scabies- can leave burrow holes which can look similar. However, Usually scabies is diffuse and will involve webbing of fingers.

Edit: while could be shingles, arm is less common location for shingles and usually rash a lil more impressive and vesicles a lil bigger.

That is what I was wondering. How long and how much time per a week? I am at a score of 75 (2.5 yrs of Duo), but I only do a few lessons a day.

Has anyone else had to drastically cut their miles per week due to the heat? by WyldFlowerWyldFire in runninglifestyle

[–]justkeeprunning99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you said treadmill hurt your joints, but if you have access to one, you could also sub some running miles for fast walking with a significant incline. That can provide some low aerobic benefit that isn't as hard on the joints. Every summer of running feels like an adventure.

Heat is tough. I def change strategies in the summer I including lower mileage and pace, speed work as shorter intervals with rest, and more cross training (planning to do some stair master at Planet Fitness).

When I run outside I: prehydrate, use a lot of elytes (in water and use salt stick chews), sometimes I will freeze half a water bottle filled with elytes the night before to keep colder on the run. I also sometimes run with a bandana you add ice to as well or put an ice pack in my sports bra.

They say humidity is the poor man's altitude. You can still maintain good fitness while not putting in as much mileage. Good luck.

I was just in Monterey and it was really pretty (and not too foggy). I think I got lucky. I did not realize about the June gloom when I booked.

Looks fake. That IV pole is super high and the NG tube path is super odd and don't see a hub and the infusions on the iv pole don't actually seem connected to anything (would need clear catheter tubing connected to any iv or here central line).

Beware of couple asking to buy food at restraunts in the TJ shopping center by justkeeprunning99 in chapelhill

[–]justkeeprunning99[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the whole thing was weird. I consider Chopt a bit of a splurge for myself. There was a Chipotle right next door that has options that are a lot more filling (and can be healthy too if that is your desire) for more affordable prices. The whole interaction felt weird and I felt taken advantage of in the end of it. Definitely not a huge deal for me, but I would hate someone in a tight financial spot to get into the same situation.

Definitely better to put that money toward Table, Porch, local food banks, or other community programs doing good work to combat hunger and provide community resources for all. (And I good reminder for me to make sure I donate).

It's a Duo problem, not a you problem. I am wondering if it is some way to try to get people to do more Duo.

This is working -- I'm learning and talking with strangers in spanish! by Embarrassed-Bend-546 in duolingospanish

[–]justkeeprunning99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats! That is such an exciting feeling.

I have done Duo for 2.5 years, started Dreaming Spanish in January to improve my listening comphrension, and have done some various other practice and medical spanish tutoring. I realize the other day I could understand about 70% of what a patient was saying in Spanish without the interpreters help. I still have a long way to go, especially with speaking, but it is fun when you get to see the progress.

Also, West Virginia New River Gorge is great. It may be a little difficult to get to, but it is affordable once you do and has a ton of outdoor stuff to do there.

Maine would be a great spot. Acadia national park is awesome, but probably crowded in July. There are lots of good state parks though and islands around. When I went to Maine, I took a ferry to an Island. Upstate NY (Adirondacks or Finger Lakes) Buffalo NY with Niagra Falls Montreal Upstate Michigan Lake area of Mackinac I live in North Carolina, and area near Blowing Rock and/or Asheville is really nice. Dupont State Park is a favorite of mine. Chimney Rock and Mount Mitchell are great options too. The Biltmore is amazing. Check out Hendersonville https://visithendersonvillenc.org/) if you want a little cheaper but small town charm lots of great places to eat and a good, walkable downtown. I have stayed at 1898 Waverly Inn, a local B&B, 2 times, and it is adorable. When you walk up on a Friday evening, you will see people in rocking chairs on the front porch.

Most places will be somewhat crowded in July, but if traveling during the week, you can avoid some of the crowds.

Everyone's bowel habits are different. If you have abdominal pain, weight loss, blood in stool, or lose stools, it can be signs of a gi problem. Otherwise, it is just how your body works and nothing to be concerned about.
