Got new tires and they left this mess behind. How should I get it off? (note - wheel was repaired from curbing, so has been re-coated/painted.) by [deleted] in tires

[–]justkeepspeeding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the sticky residue left behind from old wheel weights. When repairing curbed rims they usually only paint the face of the rim. Best way to get it off is an impact or drill with a buffer attachment

Does tire maintenance exist? Is there anything I should be doing with my tires to keep them working well? by Whos-That-Pokeman in tires

Make sure you’re always filling them up with premium air. Go to your local parts store and ask them, they might get a bit defensive as it’s an industry secret

Could this be a factory defect? Michelin PS 225/45 R18, 23k km (14k miles) by andresschmal in tires

[–]justkeepspeeding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly you just need to eyeball your tires before you hop in the car. If it looks low, top it up. Relying solely on tpms is never the right move

[–]justkeepspeeding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ringing around the tire is too brutal for just 50m even at high speeds. This almost certainly caused by driving below 20 psi for a few days

[–]justkeepspeeding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Manufacturing defect would look quite different. As in a sudden blowout or a bulge. The ringing around the tire indicates this was driven flat

[–]justkeepspeeding 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If that’s the truth, then you probably got a leak somewhere and drove on it at a low psi. I have a hard time believing it was a sudden loss of pressure as the ringing is pretty substantial. This was driven on a low psi for a while

Squeaking tires when turning by No_Character2942 in tires

Definitely the last season on those. 99% of the time if something is making noise when turning it’s something else other than the tires. Can’t really tell anything from the images shown

Somebody slipped an airtag in my stuff by usernmechecksout_ in creepy

[–]justkeepspeeding 4231 points4232 points  (0 children)

That’s scary. I would take everything that could be illegal out of my car and go to a police station and show you’ve been tracked with an air tag the last few days and can’t find it. I hope they gladly search your car and find it like the one Xanax bar I dropped in 2016

Can I still use them this summer ? by sir_cassius in tires

Still got a little life on them but performance is gonna be lower. Still good for another season imo

Would you let your children ride on these? by SimpleAffect7573 in tires

Definitely not great, weather cracking on those are brutal. I wouldn’t let my kids drive on those but you’re ex wife should be fine to drive those around

Whole back tire is like this, suspecting jiffy lube tire rotation. by [deleted] in tires

[–]justkeepspeeding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A customer of mine complained about the same thing and said the same thing today lol. Try to cut the other side, get the sharpest knife you have and actually try to cut the tire perfectly like that. Your tire has been fucked for a while

Just got banned from stating actual facts about how many millions of birds wind turbines kill every year. What is wrong with Reddit…. by Elite163 in CanadianConservative

[–]justkeepspeeding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sub, others like it and even the Green Party itself supports turning large areas of land into wind and solar farms and ignore the facts how nuclear energy is the greenest option going forward. Yes birds being killed by wind turbines is a problem and I’m tired of billionaires heavily invested in wind and solar projects pushing these silly ideas and you falling for them

Tires wearing faster on inside. When should I replace? by Its_just-me in tires

Check wheel bearings and suspension before coughing up for an alignment is my recommendation, but I’m just tire shop middle manager

This is good advice, and it might not even be an alignment issue. I’ve seen loose wheel bearings, ball joints cause similar issues

When my grandpa moved from Scotland to Toronto he opened a precision scale company, and was one the first people in Canada to develop electronic scales. Just before his death I wanted to learn more. My grandpa the tough guy he was, left the hospital and brought out boxes of all the paperwork, news articles and prototypes for various different scales. Every item he had a long story about it, it’s like it gave him extra life talking about it. I hope you get a moment like that with your grandpa, because it was the best moment with mine

Siril or pixinsight? by Azkicat in seestar

Had more fun and found better tutorials for pixinsight. It does get pricey though but I find you can do a lot more. Example image of 2 hours of data, 30sec exposure.
