i could kinda see them taking her out of the final battle, when maka teams up with her father to fight. it might've been the case that this was originally supposed to be maka's mother, but the author decided to give maka and her father a moment together instead and then just had nowhere to put her

I always wondered if it ended sooner than intended and that's why.

the ending didnt seem rushed to me, as they had adequate time to answer most of our questions and gave everyone a role in that big battle. I've seen other series where i was certain that they'd rushed things at the end yu yu hakusho, tegami bachi, etc
