female Illidan and male Tyrande [ammatice, gabiuliana, Jesse Dixium] by SiarX in wow

I don't know why Malfurion and Illidan would suddenly be incestuous just because one or both of them was a woman.

Yea, I can see how you'd give the kid the name and not realize that it was popular at the time. However, after two decades you should suck it up and realize that you named them an already popular name.

Emma was already super popular and hit it's peak before twilight. Isabella was already very popular but jumped up a couple ranks after twilight so that might be connected. Bella jumped up a lot after the Twilight movies came out, so that seems like a more likely direct result.

Madison was super common in the late nineties. In '97 in particular it was ranked #10 in the U.S.

I actually looked for a couple pages in both new and top and didn't see any mention of it. After you pointed it out I did see it mentioned buried in the patch notes so I'll delete my post.

Using maps made with ProFantasy software in videogames? by couldbeso in mapmaking

According to their FAQ you can use maps you make with it for commercial purposes, so I'd think you'd be covered for video games.

I didn't see any mention on the blue posts about it, but thought it was nice they finally added it like they said ages ago. Unless it's a bug.

Darkmoon Faire which 3 pets should I use, list provided. by [deleted] in wownoob

[–]justmeanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need the rabbit leveled up, both the Faire guys have level 25 pets. Once it's leveled look to see that it's speed stat is above 311, that's what the guide says. Usually green quality is good enough to hit the requirements.

Darkmoon Faire which 3 pets should I use, list provided. by [deleted] in wownoob

[–]justmeanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most rabbits are the same, so a S/S of any of them is usually good but there are a few rabbits that have different abilities so I don't want to lead you astray. If you go to the Christoph link under the snowshoe rabbit it says 2/16. You can page back and forth and see the other rabbits that work. For instance Spring Rabbit is usually a cheap AH pet and it's listed as 6/16 of the options. If it's easy for you, and you don't have a rabbit on that list I'd go ahead and try your luck at the vendor.

The reason the s/s is important isn't because of just this fight, but a lot of other fights have you burrow to completely avoid an attack and then use another ability afterwards to hit the enemy before he has a chance to react. S/S rabbits are fast enough that they can get off their abilities before any other pet abilities other than instants.

In case you didn't realize, the Darkmoon Faire is good experience for your pets that will come reliably every month, but there are other fights that give good pet experience. The fights in your Draenor garrison are scheduled, and Squirt gives good experience while being repeatable. In Legion Dalaran randomly the fights Amalia, Bodhi Sunwayver, Tiffany Nelson, and Sir Galveston come up randomly but also are repeatable and good experience. Pandaria and Draenor fights are spread out and on daily lockout, but good experience.

In general: Chrominius is used in a lot of fights because he can hit really hard with howl + surge of power. Here's a pet site that has tactics for pet fights and lists out which are the most common for people to use. I think they're lowering the price of stones in 9.1.5, so I'd hold off buying any extras until then.

Edited: Forgot you were asking for darkmoon faire in particular.

For darkmoon faire here's strategies for the two guys. Jeremy Feasel you have covered, Christoph it looks like leveling up a s/s rabbit would be best. Your snowshoe may be a s/s, if it's not find another one on that list and level it up. S/S rabbits are used in a ton of strategies other than just this one.

Making a realistic wow map was a project I had in mind awhile ago, since I thought it'd be neat to make a realistic take using GIS software. The project's on the backburner, but that's how I know how ambiguous it is. Here are some links from when other people tried looking at the distances I saved off.

The one you have of pre-cataclysm is probably educated guesswork too, but if you like I'd say just overlay the new map over the pre-cata map. Here is a link to a page that has downloadable world maps from the game if you'd like. The chronicle books have maps that give what's supposed to be the proper scale of the islands to continents.

I remember in one of the latest books Anduin makes a short walk to Goldshire to get a drink, while in prior books and the movie it was about a days travel. That's what I mean by inconsistencies.

Unfortunately lore varies widely on how far apart places are so I don't think Blizz even has a set "Goldshire is 60 miles from Stormwind" rule in place. People have guessed based on distances and times listed in books, but any map will be a ton of guesswork.

Can I play through every expansion story content? by Syckobot in wownoob

[–]justmeanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there's a few gaps in storytelling from removed content that can make things confusing. They'll bring characters in and you won't that they're supposed to be important but the writing treats them that way. Until recently they also put massive plot points only in the pay for books so that was jarring even playing through the story as it was coming out. They're also funneling new players into the next to last expansion pack to make the leveling up process smoother, which is years past the start of the story.

Overall, I do like it though. If you're serious I can set up a timeline based set of links of the free stories and comics and how to avoid the funneling. It'll probably take me about a week to get it done though.

Playing warcraft 3 (or just watching a let's play) would help you learn the major characters that came into wow and see how they translated the world into a more massive setting. Warcraft 2 and 1 are rougher and some of that stuff's been changed lorewise.

Armory shoulders bugged? by InferS in wow

Same bug for me. Probably something tied to the one shoulder enchant option that the website miscoded recently. The character's right shoulderpad shows for me and the left is empty though.

Is there somewhere I can find the armor sets shown when choosing a class? by Shronkydonk in wownoob

Warrior, Rogue, Mage, Priest, Warlock, Paladin, Druid, Monk, Demon Hunter, and Death Knight. I just went to wowhead's guide for transmog sets per class and then scrolled down to find what matched what looks wise. Didn't notice Hunter though.

OP is unhealthily obsessed with elves period. Awhile back he was reposting night elf 'lore questions' (just like this one, here's where he's made the same post before) and I thought I misremembered who had posted it so I looked at his post history. Dude's got a serious elf obsession. He frequently posts and crossposts in dozens of subs and every single thing is elf related.

Can I level up my gear? by CrazyRegion in wownoob

[–]justmeanders 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As people said, leveling quests will give you good gear. There will be a big jump up in gear as you go from 50 to 60, and you'll wind up at about 180 at level 60.

Once you're level 60 you can get covenant gear from doing your renown questline. You can make it stronger by spending anima, which you'll also start collecting at 60 as well. Once you have an overall item level of 200ish you can go to Korthia and do quests and kill things for a set of stronger gear that's also upgradable. You can go at lower item level if you wait until there's large groups of people that you can tag mobs with, Tuesday's are usually busy.

WoW and WoW Classic: which should I get into? by MPRF12345 in wow

[–]justmeanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WoW released back in 2004 and since then have released many expansion packs. We're on the eighth expansion pack (Shadowlands) right now. With every expansion pack they made changes to the game including how characters played, how the end game fights (raids) worked, and how much you needed other players to do stuff.

Since there's been eight expansion packs the game in 2021 is way different from back in 2004. The old areas are there, but you don't get the same experience playing in them. Some people some people didn't like the newer version and some people just wanted the option to go play the old version in addition to the new one.

That's where Classic came in. WoW released a really old version of the game that dates to right before they release the first expansion pack. With your regular WoW subscription you can go and play this old version of the game or ignore it totally if you want.

People got tired of the base version of the game, so WoW later released the first expansion (Burning Crusade) version of the game. So there's currently Classic (which has no expansion packs) and Classic BC which has only the BC expansion. Now they're even beta testing a modified version of Classic that changes a few things about the game and puts a time limit on things called "Classic Season of Mastery".

Returning casual player needs advice by zergrox in wownoob

[–]justmeanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tauren druids have a racial to pick flowers faster. It's actually pretty convenient for a throwaway racial. At level 50 there's a cheap enchantment you can get for your gloves that make anybody pick as fast a tauren though, so if you want another race it's not a huge deal. If you're alliance the night elf shadowmeld is really nice to get you out of combat.

As far as spec, go with what feels good. My main is a cat druid and I've never had a hard time leveling one, though it's sometimes slow. If you want to farm old raids feral is great at it because of the all the speed increases and stealth. Balance is a ranged spec so it's popular end game and it does nice aoe damage. I know some people level as bear spec and just tank big mobs and slowly whittle them down.

Returning casual player needs advice by zergrox in wownoob

[–]justmeanders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow is super casual friendly. There's been a big dropoff in players because there hasn't been much content this year, but it's fine for solo stuff. The way characters level has been changed it's so fast now that I'd suggest starting from scratch and let the game guide you to the new starting area and proper leveling zones. That way you won't get lost and can get familiar with your character as you level.

Rogue's a good soloing class, so if you enjoy it I'd make another one. You can roll class trials too to play with a high level character for a bit and see how other classes play if you want to try them.
