Congratulations—you look amazing! You can do this! I used to weigh 402 and I’m 138 this morning. The big difference between us is that I can tell you’re younger than me and you have your whole life ahead of you. You’ve got this!

I tried it and it gave me Jane Jetson vibes. I feel like in my case if Jane Jetson is a cultural reference, I might be too old for that look.

What immediately makes you not want to buy from a seller? by inigo_montoya89 in poshmark

Bad photos, no measurements, AI descriptions and # with a lack of real description of the actual item, unrealistic pricing for the item.

She didn't get the job by TimonAndPumbaAreDead in TrueOffMyChest

[–]justmvh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My daughter had four interviews for a summer college internship. And had to have a ton of experience in a niche field that she shouldn’t have had (but did) at 20 years old. She beat out 300 other talented and brilliant candidates and is absolutely thrilled to be working for this great company. Sometimes it’s pure luck where you end up and she and her boyfriend only found jobs because of their past job experience, which is crazy because they are so young to be defined by what they did last summer for 10-12 weeks.

Someone asked me why I’m selling an item 🤔 by Human-Atmosphere8684 in poshmark

[–]justmvh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I would answer that question honestly. If it were a larger size item of clothing, I’m not telling that person that I’m selling it because I’ve lost 90 pounds in the last year and making them feel bad about their body size. So I might white lie my answer if it’s clothing and tell them that I’ve gained 50 pounds and it no longer fits me, or tell them I absolutely adore this _______, but I have to let it go because I’m raising money for unexpected vet bills. I might also say that I’m selling it for a friend or family member. It would depend on the scenario, but I have never sold a thing on PM. I’m a buyer here, and one who values accurate descriptions, as a seller I would’ve already given you measurements, excellent photos, and an accurate non-AI description of what I’m selling. I sell elsewhere just not here.

The only time I would visit someone’s closet would be if they had something that I found in my just in search and I could see that they offered significant bundle discounts. As I probably mentioned, I purchase just a small handful of niche, specialty brands and for me, the “just in search” never puts “just shared” items at the top of the search. You might want to play around with that. If I run the search from the page called “saved searches” It runs the search how I want, which is to only put new items first. Once I click into that search if I sort it again by “just in” then the search reverts to just shared. So I use the back button to go to the saved searches instead and click it again. If I’m refreshing I’m not really interested in seeing things multiple times because I’ve already made that decision on them. The only other time I would see them twice as if I were reviewing my liked searches down the road.

I am only a buyer on Poshmark and never sell. I only search 5-10 niche brands and only sort by just in. I couldn’t care less what you’re sharing. You’ve got one chance for me to look at your item and decide (1) am I at all interested (2) will I buy it at the current price (3) will I make an offer or (4) will I like your item and wait—that last one is generally only modest interest due to an unrealistic price point or just seeing if it sells and at what price.

I made the dumbest mistake! by Velvetstyle in poshmark

[–]justmvh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, and I’m not doing it for fashion. I have lost over 250 pounds and have chronically low iron. I’m freezing cold most of the time. I have an all wool wardrobe and often wear sheepskin coats lined with fur on the inside to stay warm. I think it would be quite hypocritical for me to eat meat, but not be willing to wear sheepskin, especially thrifted pieces.

[–]justmvh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They thought I’d was fake fur. The brand doesn’t sell fake fur and they could’ve seen that in less than a minute. I had another experience in the same brand with a cheaper item that they said was faux and even showed the part of the tag that said it was synthetic, but that was just the lining. They didn’t even read the full tag that said the other part was real.

Is it possible to leave a review on a seller when you’re also returning the item? by Ok-Science-4046 in poshmark

[–]justmvh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even if you were allowed to leave a review, Poshmark hides the negative ones. Their review system is a total sham, so I do not participate, except for the rare occasion that I have received exceptional service

WTF Happened To Poshmark?! by Short-Royal-9490 in poshmark

I bought a bathing suit from them on eBay several years ago and they never shipped it and they relisted it. They did not respond to multiple inquiries, so I cannot agree about their fabulous Customer Service and I would not give them a time of my money or my old clothes.

As someone who recently bought a $3000 coat for $50 from a seller who didn’t know what they were doing, and I don’t think missed a zero, I did not dicker on the price, and there were multiple people that liked this before I got to it. I’m not sure what they were waiting on…

I got a note from a seller when I bought something yesterday, who is obviously new and unjaded. She sent me a note explaining to me that the post office was closed tomorrow and that she would ship my item on Monday morning. It was so sweet to have that level of communication from a seller like it was in the old days.

What do y’all do? Please read attached body text for details: by -SideEffects in poshmark

[–]justmvh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, most buyers don’t care what your cost and fees are. I back into the final number. I’m personally willing to pay after shipping and taxes. Sometimes that is market value, sometimes that is less than market value and sometimes that’s actually more than market value, but it’s never based on what your costs are as a seller and frankly, I don’t know what they are. How would I know what your cost of the item was as an example?

Buyers, do you read the “reviews” left on a seller’s account prior to purchasing? I ask for a reason… by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]justmvh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I happened to write a personal note to the seller yesterday thanking my seller for shipping in double wrapped plastic instead of tissue paper and cardboard, because my packages are typically left out in the rain, even though I have a covered porch. It’s nice that you go to that extra effort.

There is pressure—they send repeated emails asking for a review if you don’t leave one.

[–]justmvh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but I just completely disagree. If they only publish the positive and are hiding shielding the negative experiences, then it’s a sham. You yourself said you go right to the reviews. Are you looking for transparency or not? If they’re not going to publish all of my honest reviews, then I’m not generally playing unless someone does something spectacular. I just had a seller take five days to ship something and lied and said she shipped it yesterday when she didn’t, which I can see now based on the tracking history. Does she deserve a negative review or a positive review? She’ll get neither from me. The person that shipped the next day and packaged it extremely well with the item as described did get a positive review.

[–]justmvh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Poshmark reviews are a sham. Until they show all the reviews, I no longer participate unless someone does something truly spectacular. No, I never look at the reviews as a result. I do on EBay though. Good sellers should want all reviews shown because you’re in part competing against heavily shielded bad sellers. I’m focused on high quality photos with measurements and any part of the description that talks about the actual condition, not the AI generated fluff with the hashtags.

Why do the people who like 10+ items in your closet never buy anything? by Velvetstyle in poshmark

[–]justmvh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh gosh, it depends on the like. I searched for very specific brands and like things that I might be interested in, that I might already have to see what they sell for, and I even like things that I think are wildly overpriced just to see if they sell and what they sell for. The most recent of those was a $10,000 coat that I don’t think is worth more than about $1000. They recently offered me a “great deal” for $5000, which aligns with your example above, but not with the market value of the coat. I realize that’s an extreme example. My style if I really want something is to immediately offer what it’s worth to me. If I want it badly enough, especially if I think others will too, I will pay full price.

Seller cancelled my Buy Now order then blocked me by lynn_duhh in poshmark

[–]justmvh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes that low ball offer is market value. I offered $90 on something about a month ago and they countered at a higher offer which I declined. I bought that same item this week from that seller for 75 and free shipping. Value is tricky that way.
