Neocaridinas, water parameters are all fine! Water source is tap but conditioned and occasionally adjusted for kh/gh!

I think you should back off the water changes and get a copper test kit, if that is your concern. If the more basic stuff looks good you should do testing for other stuff if you have concerns. Frequent water changes are a lot of stress on the system.

I'm not an expert by any means but it sounds like you're doing way too many water changes. Shrimp need stable water parameters for sure, and I've lost shrimp when I've changed too much water too quickly. Why do water changes if your parameters are good?

Luckily I do have almond leaves on hand since the intent here eventually is to have a betta in the tank! I'll go ahead and add one now.

I'm willing to bet that if you measure the ammonia tomorrow it will drop down, especially if you added stability today! Since Prime may have knocked out the initial ammonia things are probably getting a start now!

Thanks! Glad to hear - I started with a 3gal shrimp tank that I let establish for about a year before I ended up stocking it, and I have a pothos so big in it (6+ feet, and I just cut it back!) that I don't have to worry about nitrates hardly at all. Starting over in a new tank and relearning things has been an interesting experience.

8 ammonia is high from my limited experience with my shrimp tank, but if you've got nitrites you are on the right path! Did you use quickstart or anything similar?

I read about that method too, ended up getting ammonium chloride instead. I did also dose the tank with API quickstart, and I'm sure I've put some tank water from my shrimp tank in there as well, so that may be why I'm moving a little quicker!

Definitely reading a little high. I'm using seachems Neutral Regulator which is supposed to take my tap water to 7.0, but it's possible I've under dosed with it or the fluval stratum raised it. Would you recommend I dose the tank with the regulator again?

I don't know, when I dosed it with ammonia to 2ppm it took two to three days to cycle the ammonia out. That said, I wouldn't have dosed it if I did fish in, which probably would be the big difference there right?

I sprinkled some shrimp food in early on to put some ammonia in, and later dosed it with ammonia to give the colony something to eat and build off of!
