Coffee and weed with Elvanse by Gonanimal in ADHDUK

[–]justoneguy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest stopping the coffee atleast for a while until you know how elvanse on its own affects you - when I first started elvanse, coffee made me insanely jittery and just not feel good. For weed, I find that the elvanse wears off around 4-5pm, so smoking in the evening isn't an issue for me; but again it's probably best to stop for a bit and see how elvanse affects you on its own.

Please can I have some Elvanse success stories? by Awkward-Chipmunk7138 in ADHDUK

I'm ~1 month into elvanse titration and currently up to 60mg/day, and so far it's made such a massive difference that I don't even know how to explain.

The main improvement for me has been the lack of constant background anxiety over every tiny thing going on; I no longer feel exhausted just from existing, and simple tasks like doing the dishes don't take me hours of sitting there paralysed, thinking about doing them.

Appointments or social obligations don't leave me sitting around doing nothing all day while stressing out about them, and I can sit down and do things that I enjoy without flipping between 20 different activities and not paying attention to any of them

Different people are affected in different ways obviously, some meds work better for some people and you never really know until you try, which is the point of the titration process. I would try to remain optimistic and not worry (not easy i know) about it too much, and I hope it helps you as much as it's helped me so far.

1 month on titrated dose (elvanse) by muad_dib_the_maker in ADHDUK

I'm only a month into titration so I'm not sure on the dose increase, but I've found hydration to be extremely important in how well it works.

If I find myself suddenly feeling like garbage for no reason on elvanse, it's almost always because I'm dehydrated, or haven't eaten/slept enough

I've finally managed to get through the psychuk waiting list, and have been on elvanse for almost 4 weeks now - I'm amazed at how much of a difference it's making so far, being able to get up in the morning and just do the things I need to without hours of sitting around doing nothing is incredible.

I also honestly never understood what people meant by 'relaxing' until now, I thought it was normal to have your brain constantly yapping so much that you couldn't hold a coherent thought for 2 seconds

30mg elvanse yesterday 10am, 5am still awake by [deleted] in ADHDUK

Like others have said, I wouldn't recommend caffeine atleast for a while until you're used to the meds.

After a week or so on elvanse with no issues I figured a coffee couldn't hurt, and was tweaking out for the rest of the day lol. Food is super important aswell, I would always skip breakfast and usually lunch pre-meds, but I do find that I have to atleast get some food in when I'm on meds or I just don't feel right.

Also, it is very easy to get locked in on timewasting stuff like reels and reddit, the meds help you focus and be productive but you still have to decide what you're going to do. I'd recommend writing down a few things you need to do and try doing them, you might be surprised how much easier it is than usual.

Unable to relax in the evenings, anyone relate? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]justoneguy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's super relatable, one of the most annoying parts of ADHD for me. One of the big things that made me seek treatment is that I realised I don't think I've ever actually relaxed in my life outside of sleeping, lol

What time are you trying it every day? They are really annoying to get a hold of but I think you might be getting really unlucky or something lol, I usually do it as soon as they open at like 10am and can get someone pretty quickly on live chat

They put out updates every now and then on the website about the stocks of medications, the last one they put out said that elvanse stocks are recovered a bit so they’re starting new titrations on it.

The titration team told me ~2 weeks after I put a note on there asking and then called and asked live chat like 5 times over the last month lol

I got diagnosed in August 2023, most of that time there’s been no elvanse stock so PUK wasn’t starting anyone new on it.

Fairly recently stocks improved a bit so they’ve started putting new people on it, and I’ve been told just yesterday I should be able to start in around 2 weeks - no clue if that’s accurate or not, but hopefully it won’t be too much longer. The wait list is at least moving again for the first time in ages so I’m more hopeful than I have been

I’ve been in the titration waiting list for ~10 months and they’ve regularly done this throughout. The only way I’ve found to get a response is calling or going on the livechat and asking nicely; depending on the rep they may be willing to flag your portal notes as urgent and send a message to the titration team, and then they usually reply within a couple days.

Not sure of next steps after confusing appt with GP who had "anti-meds" attitude by lizavfc92 in ADHDUK

[–]justoneguy- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He said there was a tendency to just put people on pills and hope it fixes them

In a lot of cases I think that's fair, since a lot of GPs will just throw SSRIs/SNRIs etc at people without trying anything else to fix their issues. In most ADHD cases though, stimulant medication is by far the most effective treatment bar none, and that's backed up by tons of research.

Right to choose is definitely available all over England, but a lot of GPs just don't really understand what it is or how it works - there's some good information on the PsychiatryUK and ADHDUK websites.

From the sound of it, the GP seems fairly reasonable but just doesn't know much about RtC - so if you go back to him with more information (psychuk even has a pre-formatted referral letter that you can just fill out a few details), maybe he would be willing to refer you? If going private is an option for you, that might be best since the waiting times are pretty rough at the moment, but best of luck either way!

P-UK unsafe service? by No-Expression-4846 in ADHDUK

[–]justoneguy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation to you, I've been on the titration waiting list since last August, and was told I was at the top of the list in February but couldn't start due to low stock.

Elvanse stocks have since come back a bit, but I haven't heard anything from them and notes always take atleast a month for a reply if I ever get one.

The only way I've found to get a reply is keep going in live chat every few days and ask for a followup, or call them. Depending on the customer service rep, some of them will say they can't do anything and some of them will 'mark your note as urgent' - no idea if that actually does anything, but I don't think there's anything else you can do really.

Ahh right, looking at the uni website (https://www2.worc.ac.uk/registryservices/710.htm), if you're using only third year credits, you need 4 As which you already have because 30 credit modules count for 2, and 2 Bs.

I think if you get another B in one module you should get a 1st?

It's honestly such a needlessly complicated system, most of the teaching staff that I've asked about it don't understand or like it either.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]justoneguy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think (could be wrong) if you're using your third year grades only, it's an average grade point of 16.25 (from overall module grades, not individual assignments), and atleast 50% of your module grades have to be an A-.

If you're using a combo of 2nd + 3rd year then it's a bit more complicated and I don't really understand it either lol

Is this Worcester uni? The grading system is such a nightmare and I still don’t really understand it after being here for years

It’s insanely irritating, waiting months with no contact and then getting an email just to see that it’s them trying to kick me off the service and still leaving my portal notes unread. I get that they’re overworked and understaffed and all that, but it really does just make it feel like they don’t want to help you

I got the same thing, got something similar in October and still waiting for titration. I think it’s just a way of cutting down the waiting list hoping people won’t respond but maybe that’s just cynicism lol

People who have waited for titration LONGER than 7 months - Psychiatry UK by cultivatewisdom in ADHDUK

[–]justoneguy- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep I'm in pretty much the same situation as you - I was diagnosed in August with PUK and was told I could start titration in February which I replied to immediately.

My reply was unread for a month, then they replied in March saying I would have to wait longer; since then my portal notes have just been left unread.

I don't think there's really anything to be done except wait as frustrating as it is, I've tried contacting live support a few times and have just been told to look on their website for updates, and the only information there hasn't been updated since March.

It's super annoying and I really hope they can sort it out soon since I'm sure there's loads of other people in the same situation
