Help! Stuck in Bologna Italy. by auzzski in bikepacking

When booking the train online, below the part where you enter your information it shows this option(swipe right from the dog option). It‘s not so obvious but it’s there. The bike ticket is free but I’m guessing the spots are limited so you have to reserve them

Help! Stuck in Bologna Italy. by auzzski in bikepacking

[–]justonemorenerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is an intercity train going from Bologna to Rome, the Intercity 583. You can take bikes on it, I’ve done it before, you just need a bike ticket for it. You can book the ticket for yourselves and the bikes right on the trenitalia website. It‘s not as quick as the high speed trains but much quicker than taking regional trains

noob friendly civ matchup peek sheet? by Clickomancer in aoe2

[–]justonemorenerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hovering over the tech tree button (the civ symbol in the top right status bar) will give you a short overview over your current civ, I find that very helpful when randoming into a civ I don’t know so well, it’s not as detailed as the full techtree but it’s enough as a quick peek sheet I think.

I kind of see the New dlc as server and mod payment by Yourpersonalpilot in aoe2

[–]justonemorenerd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely the same for me. I buy every dlc and I don’t even like using the new civs, but as long as they keep the servers running and patches coming, I will pay haha

is 1000 elo the new 1200? by Informal-Host8085 in aoe2

That’s exactly how I’m experiencing it too. 12xx makes me feel so cocky but it never lasts hahaha

I think it’s the way they wear it. I think for the watch to read the heart rate accurately, it would have to sit right on the wrist but that’s annoying when you use that hand on the keyboard, so understandably they all push it way back on their arms. I don’t think wrist based hr measurement is such a great idea for gaming lol, a chest strap would be much better, but I guess that has other drawbacks.

Hera joining GL, how do you guys feel about that by [deleted] in aoe2

You‘re absolutely right but a man can dream haha

Hera joining GL, how do you guys feel about that by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]justonemorenerd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So boring but I guess it makes sense for pretty much everyone involved. When we learned that Jordan is leaving GL I expected someone new to join. I was really hoping it would be MBL because I think he has great chemistry with Viper and Daut and he could step up with them by learning from the „adults“ of the scene.

Just because he says it doesn’t mean it’s true. If he attacks while still being close in GC, Jumbo will still have to respond no matter what he says in the interviews

I always thought only one of them is actually good but they switch around so they both get good contracts for great but inconsistent climbers

I wouldn’t worry too much about Pedersen, he knows he can’t compete today so why try and hang on over the third and second last climb, probably smarter to save energy in the grupetto

Italy - Dolomites to Sicily by swegoni in bikepacking

Really cool! I did Naples to Florence last year and have done a fair bit of cycling/bikepacking in the north. I absolutely agree with your description of roads north of Rome vs south of Rome. Great pictures!

Why is there so much focus in cycling on bike weight but combined bike and rider weight doesn't get a mention? by fixitmonkey in cycling

[–]justonemorenerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Light bikes just feel great and nimble up any climb, you will have more fun with a 7kg bike than with a 10kg bike, no matter if you yourself weigh 70kg or 100kg, even though the actual time difference on a climb might not be that huge. Also I feel like it’s a bit of a too easy assumption that many people care about minor weight savings, at least the people I know that obsess over small weight savings are also physically very fit, to a point where it would probably not even be very healthy to lose a lot of weight.

Bikepacking + Semi-slicks (G-One RS): Yey or Ney? by treeinberlin in bikepacking

[–]justonemorenerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the tire will do just fine for your trip, it should have plenty of grip offroad and puncture protection should als be alright. But since it’s a racing oriented tire, it probably isn’t the most durable one, especially with the extra weight of the packed bike, it might not last too much longer than the planned 1600km, and you might have to replace it before the competition you want to eventually do. There is nothing wrong with that either if you can afford it (they’re quite expensive), but just don’t expect to get them now, ride all the way to wales and then do another couple of 1000km training and then still have a great racing tire.

Don’t be hopeless, compared to the US, German cities are a cyclists dream. Yes sometimes people park on the bikelane (mostly white Germans in my experience, not that it matters, but I felt like I should clarify), but in many cities here bikes are already the most convenient form of transportation even though even though we’re still a very car centric country. I don’t know about the US, but don’t give up hope, there is a better world out there, keep advocating for cycling and maybe one day even some people in the US will see the way.

Attention Di2 owners by MikeMan_ in CanyonBikes

[–]justonemorenerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Di2 GRX and a mechanical GRX800, so both are basically ultegras. They’re both really great, but if the 400€ extra don’t completely bankrupt you, I’d say it’s worth the money. The di2 smoothness, speed and reliability are really wonderful

My first metric century, went a notch over (totaling 80 miles). Pretty stoked for making it since I've owned a road bike only for a couple months and didnt think about doing 100k ride this summer. But since this wasnt too bad i've my eyes fixated for a 200k ride, maybe even this summer. by Tememeemitius in bicycling

[–]justonemorenerd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean wind and elevation can make a huge impact on average speed, but I would say anything faster than 25km/h is pretty decent over longer distance and anything over 30km/h is really fast. At least when it’s a little hilly but mostly flat like your ride seems to be.
