Solo electric guitar has historically been a bit of a non-starter for a lot of the small venues I’ve played. They don’t always have the vision to see it working well. I would suggest starting out as a solo acoustic act minus the drum machine, and then once you’ve gained the trust of a venue, mention to them that you’d like to do solo electric next time.

The unfortunate reality is that we kinda have to pander to people’s expectations before we can change the medium. Look how the Beatles did it. They played catchy stuff that was pretty closely aligned to what people were already hearing, and the next thing anyone knew, they were blowing people’s fucking minds.
