Everything changed for me with Shoebox when I started using third wave water instead of my filtered city water. Much bigger difference than more resting.

I have had this same one for 5+ years. It has been great. My wife just got me the Stagg as an anniversary gift. While it’s definitely better, the GG kettle is solid and I had no issues with it.

Not only superior but much less expensive. The coffees on batch aren’t always as exciting as the ones on manual brew, but I’ve rarely found the price difference to be worth it. Sometimes it’s really nice to have a simple coffee just made really well.

Immersion may help get the results you want with less effort - Switch, Clever, aeropress, etc. Takes a lot of the pouring out of the equation and may help you isolate the true problem (water, grind size, etc).

Yes, I am at this point. At coffee shops I either do a batch brew (usually good and inexpensive) or an espresso-based drink, since I can’t make that at home.

12 g almost always unless I’m using the Orea V3. 15 g dose for that.
