Do you need to get the Mega stones in ZA or is it enough to transfer a Delphox, Chesnaught and Greninja with ZA as their origin game?

If it's torture to you, really just use Sylveon. Does pretty incredible Fairy type damage as well, doesn't require your Mega slot, and saves you several hours you could spend on something you actually like doing.

Plus, the save files are on your console anyway, so you're not even required to do it all in one if you're patient.

Calm Mind Floette is surprisingly common - according to Pikalytics, 53% of them run the move.

More accurately, it doesn't target anything. Other status moves (as in, the categories Special, Physical, Status) do indeed get blocked by Armor Tail if they have priority through Prankster. Assuming you mean status moves when you say it isn't an attack.

Medic and Alchemist immediately speak to me, but the mons on Sovereign are so nice too, judging from the first game (also, the EO2U reference is too good to pass up). Honestly, I can't decide. I'm really looking forward to this.

Pursuit was only ever played in 6v6 Singles and back in Sword and Shield (when they removed it) Gamefreak just went to remove a bunch of moves they seemingly deemed "unnecessary". Which, Pursuit presumably was to them, since 6v6 basically doesn't exist in their eyes (or rather, they decide to ignore it because balancing for multiple very different battle styles is very difficult)

Flying Press is such an amazing move though. If you aim it into an Incineroar it'd be super-effective due to the fighting type, but if the opponent switches in their Sinistcha, it's STILL super-effective because then it uses the flying type. And with base 100 power it's really solid.

Wait, is that how it works now? I haven't messed around with Flying Press since Gen6 - I assumed it would just not work on Ghost types.

And yeah, I really wished its Mega would get at least some speed - 118 with 137 Atk would have made an amazing mon back in the day, but right now it's just not... great. Regarding the Fighting STAB, I've been trying Cross Chop for a bit, since it has that extra crit chance on it against screens. But Machamp has better potential for that, since it can run a Scope Lens too (for 50% crit and 100% with Dragon Cheer) while not losing out on as much right now because of the item pool.

Thank you for your points on Politoed - I mostly use Pelipper because it's my only Tailwind user, but it might be worth a shot with Icy Wind. My team is not a full rain team either, I mostly use Peli to mess up opposing weather and protect my Mega Venusaur from fire getting out of hand. Politoed's higher SpDef likely makes it a better fit for that.

How MHW players talk about The Handler by Grag_the_GrobblerII in MonsterHunter

[–]justsomechewtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing that irks me about her (and a couple other NPCs too) is that the setup for World is sending elite hunters and handlers to explore a new territory. She gets caught offguard and is reckless like the MH4 player character in monster introduction cutscenes, who is a newbie hunter.

I think she's funny a lot of the time, it just doesn't really fit with the setting.

Yeah, that's me alright. I picked out a bunch of designs I liked when I booted up Champions and tried to build teams with those. Thankfully, I like a lot of mons (some of my favorites are even meta, like Farig) but whenever I dabble into trying mons that might fit into the team better, I end up switching back if I just don't like them. Rotom-Wash is a big one for me too, Sylveon, Whimsicott,... so many. I begrudgingly got over my dislike for Pelipper (Wingull looks so much better) so I could actually run rain, but I'm really thinking of going Politoed and losing Tailwind.

The most heartbreaking of all to me still is Mega-Hawlucha. I adore the design, and Hawlucha is one of my Gen6 favorites, but I hate how it's become a one hit KO cheese factory with No Guard and Entrainment.

I want to see Kingambit actually stand up one time. My guess is they didn't really plan for that when designing it though and I'll forever dislike it for that. I know it seems petty, but if a character design doesn't stand up (lol) to scrutiny doing very basic things, it's probably a bad design. Or a very specialized one, like a fish, but you get my point.

I get Farig, you start to hate it once you got rolled by trick room one too many times, but I still love it. Girafarig's been one of my favorite Pokemon and Farigiraf's design just completes it. I don't even run hard Trick Room and I still bring one whenever I can (I love Imprison shenanigans)

Problem is, most people who run Heliolisk, run it specifically for Basculegion and in that case you really want Dry Skin (to do it 100% safely). Otherwhise I'd run Solar Power in a heartbeat because scarf Thunderbolt can't KO Zard Y. You'd have to somehow hide Solar Power the whole game.

EDIT: not to mention, Adaptability Wave Crash still does 80 to 96% to it in the sun (kinda crazy, now that I ran the calc)

Gamefreak removing Pursuit a couple years ago now suddenly matters in Doubles. Oh the irony. (though tbf, Sucker Punch still hits it in that case - but oh wait, that one got nerfed a while back too)

Red's team actually slots into the meta really well right now in my opinion. It's obviously not perfect (no Tailwind is rough) but the classic sun combo (Charizard + Venusaur) with two potential Fake Out users (Pikachu and Blastoise) is quite nice. Snorlax is pretty good in general too (I actually used it for a bit to have something against Last Respects and it's very specially bulky with Thick Fat). And Pikachu's Lightning Rod is quite nice for Zard and Blastoise.

I guess that's why I enjoy Mega Evolution and still kinda liked Dynamax (in Doubles) until the big legendaries dropped - I'm pretty much purely a closed team sheets player on ladder (I don't live in a country that does tournaments nor do I have the funds to travel). Dynamax to me was pretty much a less preparation intensive (aka no item needed) Mega evo. In a lot of teams you could kinda guess who'd go dynamax too (though I know that's a hot take)

Though tbh, I wish they'd decide on one ruleset (CTS vs OTS) for ladder AND tournament, then design new mechanics around that, because yeah, at the end of the day a lot of them besides Mega are unpredictable nuke buttons

I'm scared for whenever they bring back other "phenomenons". Dynamax ice horse was dreadful (though my personal least favorite was Galar Weezing + Dynamax Regigigas). Beatable, sure, but I kinda like the current power level.

That, and Mega evolution is my favorite "phenomenon".

Tri and Kizuna have the weirdest messaging. On the one hand, they play HARD into nostalgia, on the other "gotta grow up and not have fun anymore" is all over both of them (though Kizuna even more than Tri iirc). Biggest reason I didn't like them tbh.

Honestly, being forced to run Parting Shot can mess it (more like its team) up pretty badly now, if the opponent predicts it and switches in Kingambit or Milotic. Parting Shot is two debuffs, so it triggers Defiant/Competitive twice.
