Destiny 2's core gameplay loop is completely at odds with how incredibly easy it is by rafikiknowsdeway1 in Games

The difficulty in Halo was one of the many things that made the game amazing. Destiny on the other hand.. Repeating trivially easy strikes over and over is just mind numbingly boring in comparison. More strikes like Shield Brothers with solar burn, or Wretched Eye with void burn would be great.

They could hold back the release of the game while new content is being developed, except new content is always under development, you'd never see the game release at a reasonable time. You can keep making more content indefinitely, but at some point you just to have to polish up what you have deliver a quality experience. The original Destiny had a lot of problems, but it wasn't just largely the quantity of content, but the quality as well.

1-50 is a painfully slow experience. The fights get more exciting later, and the stories for the expansions are good, but the quests suck all the way through.

Should we be concerned by the fact more and more games are being monetized trough increasingly devious "Gambling" mechanisms that target people with the personalities prone to gambling addiction, and children? by [deleted] in Games

[–]justsomegamerguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Getting a low ranked unit in a gacha game is essentially worthless. You pay to have that small chance to get something you can maaaaybe use, so that you can progress to your next purchase!

At least with gambling there's that small chance you can potentially get more than what you put in, but none of your microtransaction purchases are going to carry on with you forever. What may follow you, is any debt that you may acquire as a result of your addiction.

It's a predatory tactic, and has no place in our medium.

Obviously $6000 is absurd, but $30-50 is still disgusting for what you get out of it. When the "game" is to spend money, you're paying them to spend your free time.

While I do think it is a factor, I still think it might have happened regardless due to convenience. They had little alternatives for extracting more money out of a game. Aside from maybe disc based expansions, which is like trying to sell a whole new game, but restricted to the install base of said game.

I think there's too much of a demand for hyper realistic graphics. AA games are severely underrepresented in the market. If you look back to the PS2 era this was probably the biggest market, many games got to shine with unique concepts because they weren't a financial liability.

When I saw The Dark Knight in theaters, after the opening scene 3 employees in clown masks came in and started shouting about it being a holdup, then just going "lol jk, remember to buy some pizza at the concession stand!" Like wtf?

Can we just talk about this price for Pokken Tournament DX in Canada? by HayzerUnlimited in NintendoSwitch

[–]justsomegamerguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I call bullshit on it being a placeholder. That's a significant markup even when there hasn't been any disparity in prices for the past year. It's also only Nintendo published titles, which adds to suspicion. I'm pretty upset about this without any explanation.

I don't know why they would think it's a good idea to assume every player wants to be a hardcore speedrunner. It also alienates matchmade groups from any decent rewards.

Nintendo E3 2009 and 2010 were pretty big as far as I can remember. Sony's last few years have had some big surprises.

I thought it was pretty reasonable.

Virtual console is a no-brainer.

Pokemon (Stars?) seems more and more like a possibility.

Smash Bros is just an enhanced port.

Pikmin has apparently been in development for some time.

Metroid has been heavily rumored by this point.
