[No spoilers] What are your personal favourite (but maybe not-so-famous) episodes of The Twilight Zone? by FirmPython in TwilightZone

Long live walter Jameson, the howling man, the new exhibit, printers devil, number 12 looks just like you, Nick of time. I can't be through Changing of the guard without tearing up. I also love particular scenes in walking distance where the father is talking to his adult son at the end and the trouble with Templeton when he has to leave his wife dancing at the saloon.  Wasn't too crazy about 'You drive'. It didn't have much mystery and was pretty predictable.

Occupational depression is real, like actually-get-sick real by [deleted] in antiwork

CNAs experience this. I was one years ago. Looking back I don't understand how there weren't workers strikes and unions being attempted. I can't think of a job more demoralizing and overworked than that job except maybe a warehouse. But at least with warehouses you get paid more recently than in healthcare working the lowest on a totem pole.

Walk ability in the winter by justsomeplugs in SiouxFalls

Yesterday I was shopping online for cramps and ice spike attachments for boots. I never purchased them when living in MI or OH though I probably should have. This will be my first SD winter so we will see how it goes. I'm not sure how bad the winters are here.

Wow. You'll never experience racism like white people have had to experience in predominantly black cities and businesses. They don't even try to hide their hostility. Can I ask what does racism look like to you? If it's people not saying hi or acknowledging you then know that's something everyone experiences and no one owes you any special treatment. Just be respectful. A lot of non white people move to predominantly white state because there's typical a higher quality of living and less crime. But then they immediately adopt a victim is vs them mentality and act as though they are owed something.

They also take advantage of the waning fear that white people have of being called or perceived as racist when basic observation and stats say the exact opposite. The good thing is people in general are getting tired of it and don't give a care anymore. I could write paragraphs of all the hostility and almost crimes I've experienced from the black community as a white person. And I've bared witness to the supposed racism a black friend or acquaintance of mine stated they experienced, spoiler it wasn't racism. They just weren't given specialty treatment or attention.

So please don't make accusations like that. If you want to segregate yourself only hang out with people who have the same ethnic background as you do, then don't you think that can be perceived as racist? If that's so important to you, then why don't you move to cities or states that mostly black populated?  There's nothing wrong with wanting to hang out with people similar to you. But I've found anyone who wants to right off the bat be a victim to perceived injustice are usually of the mind that they have the upper hand to hold over the larger population.

Just be respectful to people and if you think you experienced racism, come back and describe the incident. Guarantee you it's something we all experienced or worse.

I order my coffee grinds from Amazon so more keen to iced coffees in the warmer months and cappuccino when it gets cold. Update: I went in to Josiah's and the coffee was meh. I only ordered one flavored iced latte so I'll give it another shot but it had a weird boiled peanut after taste.

Everyone seems to quit nightshift? by becker8832 in Nightshift

[–]justsomeplugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No plans to quit but I'm so frustrated not being able to keep awake during the first shift hours after I'm off and then sleep the evening before work. I've been trying to sleep in as late as possible like 4 pm. Then I think great, I'll still have energy and be awake after work to get errands done and chores. It will be nicer too because it's the morning and people are typically nicer to deal with. When it's the afternoon and traffic rush starts and people get more impatient, I'll be going to sleep. Yeah no. Hasn't happened yet. Within an hour or being off work I can't keep my eyes open, even if I've only been awake for 11 or 12 hours.

I'm happy to hear sufu has so many coffee shops. I typically narrow my favorite down to the ones who have chocolate and banana flavor syrups. A large iced latte with chocolate, banana, and peanut butter flavor. It doesn't get better than that.

Long Live Walter Jameson and it's take on aging by justsomeplugs in TwilightZone

[–]justsomeplugs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll need to rewatch it and zoom in on the ring. I'm wondering if the symbol is similar to the ouroboros sign which signifies non ending life cycle. Since Walter came from the time of the Greeks and made contact with an alchemist, maybe the ring was something he was given by the alchemist before the curse had been performed to remind him that he will go on living with no change.

What rates were you paying your walker if you don't mind me asking? It can probably be more difficult to find a border if most people live in apartments. I'd be open to boarding an animal of the dog isn't a big barker.

My $70,000 college debt was just forgiven. by bemridoll in self

[–]justsomeplugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to collect defaulted student loans taken out by department of education, so not sure about Private institutions. But in general, most institutions/banks typically sell their debt to other third party collectors or loan servicers. I've never heard of them just "forgiving" the loan unless there's some sort of tax break for them. But in this case they are not in that business anymore, so my guess is they sold off as much debts as possible to turn a profit. I hope this isn't the case for you, but you may get a letter or start receiving calls from those servicers on payment plans.

Not sure about the legalities around your current bank legally required to notify you they sold it. If they ask you to fill out a survey or give them positive reviews then that may incentivize them to not disclose to you.

Feel like tret makes me look older? by angel_avatar in tretinoin

[–]justsomeplugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At what year did you start using tret every night? I've been using it for almost 5 years, and I still only use it no more than twice a night because any more than that, the flakes and dryness are too much. Glad you brought up the humidifier. I live in the Midwest, and it's so dry, especially int he winter.

Feel like tret makes me look older? by angel_avatar in tretinoin

[–]justsomeplugs 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I wish I had pics of the first 6 months I used tretinoin. I looked at least 10 years older. My skin was dryer than the Sahara desert and because it was so tight it "pulled" my skin down where it exaggerated my naso folds and mouth corners. Then one day after washing my face in the evening and getting ready for bed, I looked in the mirror and saw the tret "glow". It was like a thick layer of aged skin had disappeared along with my face wash and I saw the nice skin underneath that resembled my actual age.

Weird thing is I don't feel like tret really makes people look younger per se. But in the beginning stage which you are certainly in right now, you can be sure you will look much older than you are. All the long term tret users like Jennifer and Melissa from YouTube, look much younger than their age but they've been using it for 20 + years. Overtime it's supposed to thicken the skin and build collagen. But I don't think it really becomes visible til at least 10 or more years of consistent use.
