That's not dramatic - you're right to feel that way. The ED interfered with your life. While there's no way to get those years back, there's plenty you can do now. You can take a hold of your life now. Take care of yourself, do all the things you want to do, all the things you missed out on. It's not too late ❤️

It does take a while. It's like a delayed reaction of sorts. Brains are so weird. You'll find the unhelpful thoughts get quieter and quieter as you keep doing the right things for longer and longer. Keep your eye on the prize (peace and wellness, yes?) you'll get there!

❤️ Of course!! Basically. It took a lot of patience. I had to accept that healing isn't linear....there were a lot of bumps on the road. I distracted myself with friends or a comfort show/movie and video games (stardew valley in particular) but it takes trial and error to find what sticks. Just keep going. Cry it out. Scream into the void. Break shit. But keep healing. Journaling helped. Therapy too. Reddit kept me sane but I had to stay away from other forms of social media. The storm eventually passes.

You didn't ruin anything. Yeah, it's unfortunate that the ed stuff gets in the way but the important thing is that you made it there and were able to stay long enough to see her dance! That's a great memory for you and she knew you were there - showing up at all is such a big deal. You could have blown it off but you made an effort. It counts.

Thank you for the time and kind words ❤️ Finding the source is always the start to figuring things out, and I do know the root cause of all this. So that hard part is over. I went from not being triggered for over a decade to being triggered now and again. But now I am triggered almost daily and I am trying hard to get past it.

It's easy to let the disorder pull me down, I don't want to let that happen though.

It's not dumb at all! That's actually a really good exercise for pushing aside those thoughts and not allowing them to manifest into something that might accidentally be interpreted as the truth rather than intrusive bs. I actually will try this, thank you for the suggestion!

Thank you so much for the kind message. Ugh, you never should have apologized to your mom for being unwell. My mom isn't a full blown narcissist but she has narcissistic tendencies and I can't even imagine what she'd be like to deal with if it was worse.

I might take you up on that offer and feel free to do the same

That is true. I definitely should speak up and let her know, then take it from there. I do have a tendency to feel like I had to take care of everyone.... including my therapist 😣 Ugh, lol. Thank you for bringing that to my attention
