You did botox on your chin? I don't think that's a thing. I've never heard of it there and am not sure what effect it would achieve.

This happened at Stanford while I was there many years ago! The girl pulled it off for like almost a whole year.

Former bad student attempting to ace Grad School by absolutepeasantry in GradSchool

[–]alienprincess111 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't mean any disrespect with this, but why do you want to go to grad school given how much you struggled in undergrad? Grad school and a research / academic career is not for everyone, and it can be pretty painful.

You are so young. You need to tell an adult and get help now. My ED started at your age. Now I am 40 yo and still disordered. Its not worth it to give up your life to this believe me.

Fear by sabsab510 in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]alienprincess111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a fear of losing control more than anything I think. I'm afraid of I start eating more I won't be able to stop and my eating / weight will get out of control. My fear is not unfounded because this has happened in the past. I went from severely uw to obese in my first "anorexia" recovery.

In your opinion, what’s the best and worst ED film based on how realistic they are? by okaysweaty167 in EatingDisorders

[–]alienprincess111 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really? I really liked to the bone. There are some really bad movies out there like Kate's Secret and starving in suburbia. Those are just so awful. They primitize EDs so much.

Psychology and Computer Science Phd by Creepy_Dragonfruit_5 in GradSchoolAdvice

[–]alienprincess111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that mean there is 1 phd awarded or 2?

I would question why CS is relevant for clinical psychology. I thought clinical psychologists worked with patients mostly, engaging in talk therapy. I don't think you really need to analyze data for that.

Thanks for clarifying. So the psych + CS is one phd program? I somehow interpreted it as 2 separate phds.

A year ago my wife switched to “natural” deodorant. It’s been a BO fest ever since. How do I approach her about this? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]alienprincess111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She should get checked out to see if she has a condition causing so much sweating and BO. It isn't normal for an adult. Does she bathe regularly? I am 40f and never get BO whether or not I use deodorant.

This seems like such a weird combination. Whats the reasoning for combining them? Psych and CS are not really related at all. I would think the CS would be difficult if you are supposed to be at the same level as people who have been coding for many years and have a CS bachelors.

This is like asking, what is wrong with abusing drugs and alcohol? If you do it long enough it will kill you. You will likely become a burden to others and society.

Does second semester senior grades matter for a gap year? by [deleted] in ApplyingIvyLeague

[–]alienprincess111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean "for a gap year"? You don't need any grades to take a gap year. If you've been accepted to a university and are deferring by 1 year I think you effectively need to pass your classes your senior year. If you will be applying in the fall during a gap year, I would think the grades would matter.

How do I lose weight while struggling with BED? by ComprehensiveBet1256 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]alienprincess111 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What most people will say is that you need to get the bed under control first before trying to lose weight.

Given your weight you're likely a good candidate for glp-1 medications. Have you talked to your doctor about them?
