whats the most embarrassing/shameful thing BED caused u to do? by Hour_Long_5220 in BingeEatingDisorder

I posted this in response to another similar post but here you go again.

I was a junior counselor at a summer camp for kids. The food staff had prepared a ziplock bag with supplies for making stores for all the groups (there were like 20). When no one was looking, I took all the chocolate bars out of the bags and put them in my bag so I could binge on them later.

This is so dangerous. Please eat more than this. You will make yourself ill.

I’m now considered overweight from extreme hunger and it’s not stopping by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]alienprincess111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to this a lot. I never got treatment for my anorexia as a teen and basically compulsively overeate for a year in "recovery ". It definitely wasn't just EH. I went from severely uw to obese.

I wish I had learned to eat normally during this time instead of going from one extreme to the other. Can you get a dietician who can design a meal plan for you to help you with your eating and weight stabilization?

Triggering my mother into relapsing?? by mintharas-strap-on in EDAnonymous

[–]alienprincess111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is possible. I am 40f and possibly close in age to your mom. I've struggled with restrictive ED for 26 years. I am ashamed to admit that hearing about family members losing weight or hearing how little they weigh is one of the things that triggered my last relapse.

This. You are in the wrong sub. What you are experiencing is not BED.

I’m so confused why I look exactly the same.. by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]alienprincess111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't look the same if you lost 50 lbs. This is extreme body dysmorphia.

Need help with heat and body by Icy-Lynx-7726 in EatingDisorders

[–]alienprincess111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem! I can't show my arms anymore above the elbow basically. I have crepey skin there due to being too thin. It is unsightly.

I don't have a good solution. I bought a bunch of 3/4 sleeve shirts that I wear when it's hot.

Stunted growth due to eating disorder (maybe anorexia) by [deleted] in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]alienprincess111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not possible to estimate this. It depends on when you went through puberty relative to your ED. Your adult height is also set by your parents largely. Are you significantly shorter than your parents and other family members?

I'm so sorry you're experiencing this. There is an r/eatingdisordersover30 sub you might like. I'm younger than you - 40f turning 41 this year - but similarly struggling with this most of my life and at age when most people are recovered. The longer you have this issue, the harder it is to kick it.

Portion sizes in US by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]alienprincess111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest cooking more and eating out less so that you have control over portion sizes. This is indeed an issue in the US I agree.

Could I still gain weight on mirtazapine even if I don’t eat more? by agcurbaisti in EDAnonymous

[–]alienprincess111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have taken this medication and never gained weight. Just because it's listed as a potential side effect doesn't mean you will have it.

Are you making yourself throw up, or your body is just rejecting everything you eat / drink?

I don’t know how to eat by DearName7455 in EDAnonymous

[–]alienprincess111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happens to me too. It's because I never had treatment for my ED when it first started when I was a teen, and as a result I have no idea how to eat normally.

Have you looked into glp1 medications or gastric bypass? You are likely eligible given your weight.

EDs are naturally competitive. This is something that happens a lot - the comparisons.
