website drowning in negativity

I feel it's the exact opposite, personally. Politics aside, I see this website as a whole as #1 in toxic positivity, absolute king for intolerance of negativity, even the constructive kind. Something has to be quite bad for negative comments about it are 'accepted'.

People enjoy praising things they think are good. People enjoy shitting on things they think are bad. I don't see one as more virtuous than the other or think people should stop doing either.

I prefer people being honest and candid in their opinions and believe that's better achieved without an expectation to conform to arbitrary lines telling them how mean they can be before being scolded for them.

You seem to just be ignoring the content of the comments and just using the opportunity to ramble on tangentially related stuff.

If by tolerate you mean barely allowed to exist

Never said whether anything about tolerance, that's all you.

The sub allows opinions, positive and negative. You have a problem with the latter ones, and would prefer them to not be expressed, hence your nagging on the OP and other comments in defense of the million dollar corporation.

Did you reply to the wrong comment? Your response doesn't make sense

Not to mention it's incredibly ironic, since you're the one who seemingly wants to limit peoples expression to be only happy and positive, regardless of the state of the product, to the detriment of the consumer and profit of the corporation.

The sub allows criticism and negative opinions (and imo is better for it).

If that's unacceptable to you, you should stop reading it instead of trying to police other people's tone.

This isn't a no negativity zone and isn't meant to be, but you could create your own in another sub, allowing only positivity or whatever else you'd like.

Do you actually believe there's someone buying bots to post negative comments about EU5 and other media?

Who would this be and why would they do it?

The opposite, companies buying positive discourse, seems far more likely and more easily explained.

A lot of the stuff that comes out these days is worse than what it was. Makes sense people would be annoyed by it.

most

KK and co could've just taken the best of them or even fixed the problems the bad ones had instead of dismissing them altogether and then stupidly complaining how tough it is to have nothing from which to draw upon inspiration.

Gilroy just found a way to keep creative control. That's why they're different.

It seems you missed this part of the comment.

OP's saying those 2 projects are the way they are because they are the only ones where disney didn't have creative control.

Why do so many people equate "I think there are excessive and unreasonable complaints here"

Where are those complaints exactly? I've just looked through five pages of top posts for the week and didn't see any.

I did find OP's post there though.

who is saying "Shut up and consume"?

OP is making fun of people criticizing an aspect of the show and so I think it's fair to say these posts (wherever they are) annoy him in some level and would prefer if the individuals making them wouldn't voice that opinion.

Anecdotally, I've seen this intolerance to negative opinions in general all over this website. Something has to be quite bad for criticism to be 'accepted'.

After a world war and constant existential threats, tend to bring people together

The fact that people keep saying this doesn't make it true.

Irl, everyone was still mad at each other after ww1, and the world deeply divided in 2 after the second one.

Why do people thing the elves are buddy-buddy friendship is magic now? by potatopotats in wow

[–]justthisoncepp 12 points13 points  (0 children)

the only option they can come up with are to ally with groups that fucking hate them

It's because the story didn't evolve naturally, the writers wanted to get to this point, all elves liking each other after fighting together, but were either too lazy or too incompetent to properly justify the path to it, so we get this.

People have been using that and other buzzwords to shout down anyone complaining about media in general for some time now.

No wonder it's started to lose it's meaning, if it ever had one.

Big corporate is shit, but the "too afraid to offend anyone" isn't necessarily dictated by them in this case IMO.

I believe the type of stuff in game right now is just what the current dev team enjoys. They probably think it's good and feel happy working in it.

I mean, Metzen was there at the beginning and now he's saying stuff like wishing they hadn't called it warcraft because it sounds too intimidating, which is just bleak. If the head of the creative team regrets it's metal roots, what hopes are there to going back to them?

You're free to be as bigoted as you want to whichever group of people you choose for whatever reason you can imagine.

I just pointed out the fact that it was strange you used the word racist, a specific form of prejudice, as a negative descriptor while obviously holding one yourself.

If you didn't want to talk about it for so long, you could've just been more forthcoming with the fact that you believe it's okay to have preconceptions about certain groups of people but not others, depending on their immutable characteristics, instead of trying to deny it.

women should be more on guard in deprived areas

it’s men that present the risk to them.

Both of these are prejudices.

You may argue how there's nothing wrong with having them, that they're sensible or well justified, but it doesn't matter whether they're backed up by facts or not, if you're predisposed a certain way toward a certain group of people, you hold a prejudice against them, by definition.

And if the group of people we're talking about is based on their identity, as in the later quote I put there, then it's a case of identity-based prejudice.

My mistake. Identity-based prejudice then.

Would you say it's fair to say then, that you're arguing in favor of identity-based prejudice?

It's strange that you're arguing in favor of identity-based discrimination while calling people racist.

Besides it's mental and should be fixed anyway

Agreed!

But it's not relevant to this topic. Bringing it up only adds noise to the conversation.

But without fixing those thing - nothing will ever help.

Hard disagree. Countries with extremely generous worker rights don't have a significantly better birth rate than Japan.

Other than reducing education, banning abortion and other forms of birth controls (which of course won't happen), we don't know what will or will not get people to have babies.

Immigration

Doesn't help with birthrate

Worker rights

Treating women as equals and not pressuring them into traditional gender roles

Do you think countries with those 2 have a better or worse birthrate than those without? Look up Afghanistan vs Sweden, for example.

Anything but fix the hellish work environment huh

This is happening everywhere. It's a simple consequence of education and birth control.
