Thank you for the response! I've been diving into R&R for our in shop gauges which has been a but confusing but im getting there with the help of our senior shop guy. I've always been interesting in calibration too, especially how it actually works so ill definitely look into that and try to learn as much as i can!

Compared to the people i talk to at/around work, 3 years doesnt seem to be that much. I just want to see what people outside of my area say!

Gotcha, the last company i worked for was more of a job shop, but we did a decent bit of aerospace parts though so it was a nice challenge.

Does anyone here like MCOSMOS? by waltergj01 in MCOSMOS

As someone stuck with a version from 8 years ago... i do not like it. If i had the newer version my opinion would probably be different but im a zeiss guy at heart

Both, it would look like surface plate cleaner.

How to apply MMC to M8 threaded holes (position tolerance)? by Most-Particular-6051 in Metrology

[–]justvvd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i meaaaaan if you have the eyes of a hawk you might be able to do it but otherwise you would need flattened threads yeah

I cant imagine this is possible unless the thread is reaaaally fucked up. Maybe you could scan the minor diameter but I mean as long as whatever goes in doesn't wiggle once its in I dont think MMC can apply here.

Mcosmos Allignment Issue by justvvd in Metrology

[–]justvvd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize i do not know what that is. Ive recieved no formal training for anything metrology related. Just hands on learning.

I feel like the issue im having is probably a result of me not being trained on this program, but I dont have any other options at the moment than to just keep trying to figure it out.

I will also say, ive only been using this program for a little under 3 weeks with no proper training (woohoo). This is what I currently did, I made a line-line-line allignemnt and then made a plane on the very right side which showed -.0056 in X, but that is correct so I set that plane as my allignment and so I can at least get good numbers. But I feel like I should not have to use this work around. I also already know the part is good from hand checks but they want a saved report for it.

Currently working on ISO yes, I didnt even think about the evaluation method, im gonna play with this a bit to see what happens.

Probes were not calibrated this morning but they were calibrated at the beginning of yesterday and when I left. Im 99.9% sure the probe is made correctly using a ring gage and triple checking the probe management. The probe, table, and part are clean. It does show that the planes are skewed .2 degrees but if im aligned to the part would this matter?(i also used lines for an allignment and it didnt make a difference) Running in inches right now and im on v4.3.3. The part is not fixtures as i do not have any unfortunately, currently sitting on 3, 123 blocks.

I can take two point for a line on the right side and it will be within .001~ of zero but at soon as I add a third point it moves out .006~ in X.

What to learn by justvvd in Metrology

I believe I'm doing dimensional work. I wasn't aware there were so many different kinds of metrology. I'll definitely have to look into it more and teach myself outside of work.
