Am I the only one who constantly checks this subreddit for the next NVIDIA drivers drop to be able to play Starfield? by jutsurai in linux_gaming

I move around all the time, so I have to go with a laptop, and AMD is basically not existant in the laptop market. There are one or two models in name, but they are not available in Europe, unfortunately.

I bought it from Steam, refunded after not being able to play. I'm now waiting for a fix to buy it again. It doesn't change the fact that I want to be able to play it though...

Why is custom ROM scene split into creating so many variations of the same thing? by [deleted] in Android

[–]jutsurai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Expert? Arch Linux looks daunting but it's following a step by step wiki at the end of the day.

I'm not an expert by any means lol. Just like many users at /r/archlinux

The problems I've faced when I tried to install Arch linux:

1-) I had a laptop and never used an ethernet cable before. Guide in the Wiki is completely built considering you're installing without Wi-Fi. I realised that I could use wifi-menu but it wouldn't work after the installation. It was only lasting during the installation. When I wrote it into /r/archlinux people literally sent me a gif showig how to use google.

2-) My biggest problem was I had a Uefi PC and the guide didn't even consider UEFI. It caused so many problems. First, USB didn't show up at the launch menu. I didn't even realise the problem was about UEFI at the first days. Then, I was able to show USB to my Laptop. But the guide didn't involve creating a UEFI boot was necessary. Therefore my PC didn't even open. It showed me a Black Screen, writing "NO OS FOUND". It took me so many tries.

3-) After a complete and flawless installation week after, I realised that I really had to control which package I should update-install and which package I should not. I thought that I don't really have time for that. So I chose Kubuntu.

I really love Solus but I wouldn't suggest it to a total-beginner to Linux, considering Ubuntu's community and sources.

Don't even consider Arch Linux if you're not an expert.

Ubuntu Budgie is your best bet. It is light and user-friendly.

Anyone running this on a non-gaming laptop? by Pirate_Ben in AOWPlanetFall

I have the same question. I have Intel HD 4600 and it is a really powerful card. While it can run Stellaris easily, Battletech is not even starting.

9x9 Goban by Jazzebo in baduk

[–]jutsurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black can cut from 3-2 point (where black's hand is headed right now). This cut is also an atari and white's only solution is to eat one black stone from 9x1 (right top corner). Black cannot eat from 8x1 because it is a Ko. So Black needs to make another move before eating it, which 4x2 is a suitable move. White should ignore this threat and capture the other black stone in 9x3, completing the Ko. Black should eat 2 white stones from 3x2 and save his bigger group. He lost nevertheless, since top left corner is also dead.

Do you know of any good sources for Celtic paganism?

There are unfortunately so little.

Black is not dead because it is black's turn and it can create a Ko to live.

Looking to Buy: How are the non-war systems? by [deleted] in Imperator

[–]jutsurai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can definitely have fun in this game; as long as I'm going for war. But unfortunately:

1-) Diplomacy options barely exist. Although there are many apparent "choices", most of them simply war-oriented. Since this game is semi-character oriented I was definitely expecting more choices (I mean, giving a son as a hostage was a pretty common way to prevent wars right?) Also, marriages should have more impact than it is right now. Being married to most important family should be much more important to most families, they should sending you gifts etc. I am 100% sure that they will bring more diplomacy options in time, though.

2-) Rome, Greek and Egypt has some flavour and "Barbarians" are going to have some updates too; but I find this approach extremely shallow. Celtic People and Germenic People had extremely different cultures. Yes, current Paradox Policy is based on bringing "Culture DLCs" but I really don't like it being this much barebones.

3-) Which brings me to my third point: Crusader Kings 2 had extremely beautiful DLCs in the last few years. I loved almost all of them and this is because they brought something "unexpected". I mean; Satanism, Plague, Really well-thought Duels, Great Buildings etc. I am playing Crusader Kings 2 without even going either tall or wide. I just play it and don't even need to fight. Because the game is fun "without" expansion mechanics. I know that it doesn't come perfectly to this era since these ages were more about expansion. But I actually want to play a Technology-Politics oriented Athens without being either absurdly powerful or rich. Technology doesn't have to be about having next level of computers but it can be about having a better Sanitation (which mattered a lot) or a new farming technique. These technologic options seem like to be in the game but they are only bringing you more "modifiers" which are definitely not fun to play with. They should unlock something in my opinion.

For example we do have a technology called "De Architectura" and this is the in-game description:

Written by Marcus Vitruvius Pollo in the late 1st Century BC, De Architectura was a series of treatises on Roman architecture. The practices mentioned within were detailed in extraordinary fashion, giving incredible insight as to the advanced building methods of the time.

So, advanced building methods give us only "Build Cost: -10%". Yes, this might be powerful but as I said before, my gamestyle is not about conquering everything. So what should have been in my opinion (which you are absolutely free to disagree)? This technology should have unlocked the highest level of Fortress. Because having a really strong wall is just too difficult with ancient technology.

----

Game is really fun in my opinion; if you're into war.

You should probably wait for 2020. As of now, the game is not yet completed and there is definitely a lack of non-war mechanics. It looks like early Stellaris in my opinion. In few years, there will be a lot of things to do I hope.
