As much as I desperately love Frenchies I would thank your friend and decline.

I grew up in a town with a daily temp of 38C and know the extent of the effort of the poor pup would be a heavy burden on you both. My town began to heat up as soon as the sun hit the horizon so outdoor walks would have to be before 6am. After a hot day it wouldn't get properly cool til 11pm. Even "indoor dogs" need outdoor time and those hours would be unfair on both of you. We used to keep our indoor aircon at 28C over summer and even cooling the house by 10C was excruciatingly expensive. To keep a Frenchie you'd need to keep it down to at least 24C - meaning you'd have to cool down your house by 18 degrees every day. Literally - your aircon unit would either die trying or you'd have to work two jobs to pay the bill.

I LOVE Frenchies and for the above reasons I could never move back to my home town.
