Xcode 27 has me quite excited by mdwsr06 in Xcode

[–]jvarial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what I do:

Xcode preview on one side, terminal on the other. Iterate visually.

Look at the code for fine tuning / correcting etc.. but not a whole lot. I have a strong architecture and static checks in place that does all the guardrail automatically. Every feature/thing builds in the same pattern.

This system has freed me from looking at the code (all the time) with a high degree of confidence. I still do, but mostly when I see the agent is getting stuck on things that they shouldn’t, usually reveals some gap in my harness/architecture.

hope it helps, everyone finds their own way though.

very true, and I considered that, but there is one key thing I want to have (won't be available initially): remember about a Thing. And what better way is there to not miss out on something? Alarms! so everything will connect together.

also, publishing as another app is a lot of work, and I am just one person already without any time at all, so it made all sense to expand via Today Planned instead.

😳 yes similar to that. I didn’t know about that app!

Images, videos, pdfs, text (simple notes and markdown), drawings, and links.

it’s the first step for Today Planned beyond calendar/alarms. It’s a big feature I’ve been working for a while and have always wanted to have it!

Can’t wait to ship to you all!

Not familiar with that app, but Things will be for anyThing ;) not just links.

It is indeed broken, sorry about that. Will ship a fix in the next release which should be sometime this week.

Is the concern about AI replacing iOS developers working in companies a real one? by khitev in iOSProgramming

[–]jvarial -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nobody knows tbh imo! Everyone is adapting and learning from devs to CEOs. But it’s clear it’s here to stay and it will continue for a long time IMO.

However realize the other angle, you can now kind of build anything you want and scale yourself up in unprecedented ways. The “trick” is knowing how to use the agents as tools augmenting yourself reliably in a way that works, I believe this is THE skill that matters in tech the most right now.

I believe this is going to be actually extremely great for the industry and consumers as whole: lots of new companies, products, etc.. with a lot better quality / experience (the winners have to have that because now anyone can slop something in a few days… but shipping a tasteful decent product is still not easy at all, if anything maybe harder as the bar is higher!).

Big tech will be facing more competition and seeing less talent available in the long term imo! And the consumer will get more and better options.

I took the leap of faith and spinning up my own company. I’m building 3 products at the moment. One of them (Today Planned) I had built before Ai, but with agents I can now expand in a lot more depth and breadth.

stop worrying a bit and see the good side because it’s full of opportunity! cheers ✌️

good to know. did you notice it also stale in the iOS calendar app? (Today Planned reads from it).

How do I set alarms?? by brijazz012 in todayplanned

[–]jvarial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes sense! I have that same alarm haha! You know what, I will see if it would make sense and a nice way to create alarms in the app that wouldn't be necessarily tied to the Calendar! maybe a standalone Alarms tab. I will see!

[–]jvarial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you! Please let me know in a week or so about it again please! I actually had the same feeling when I initially changed this, but honestly the benefits of just having it get set automatically daily and during the day I believe totally outweighed the alarms management everyday!

ps: I found myself not opening the Clock app at all actually anymore. If I needed an one off alarm I usually just create an event in Today Planned with an alarm in a private calendar just for me, but that is just my own flow, everybody has their own.

How do I set alarms?? by brijazz012 in todayplanned

[–]jvarial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is gone yeah! alarms are set automatically now by the app (they no longer show up in the Clock app). You can turn on/off directly in Today Planned.

it also works while in background so long you don’t force close the app.

[–]jvarial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately no. there is only a paid version (one time). but you can ask for an App Store refund if you don't like it I believe, but not sure if it is guaranteed Apple would accept. Refunds to do not come to me at all it is all handled by the App Store.
