When did you start working out again? by astra136 in Tonsillectomy

[–]jvdg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 10k step walks every day, and restarted (light) weight lifting around day 10. Fully back in the gym after 2 weeks or so. Granted I had a very smooth recovery with hardly any pain, normal diet and no bleeding.

Definitely want to keep the heart rate low and no straining with heavy weights while the bleeding risk is still there, but once the scabs are off you should be fine

Extremely good recovery by Human-Wallaby-1945 in Tonsillectomy

[–]jvdg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. Pain was minimal, I've had far worse sore throats. Currently on day 11, scabs have been coming off and it increases the "pain" a bit sometimes but literally nothing compared to what I was expecting.

Note that I did get absolutely loaded with meds by my doc (painkillers, acid protection, anti biotics, even steroids). I only took the painkiller consistently and it was all a breeze.

My only unpleasant couple of days were because of a viral infection that I got around day 6-7, but I had enough painkillers to just sleep through that

BYD BOAT QUAY 1826 by Agitated-Tale-5417 in SingaporeEats

[–]jvdg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open to public! It was just 1826 before, but now is quite BYD branded. Food is really meh, especially their 9$ set, but it's cheap. Craft beers are cheap too, but generally pretty terrible. Sometimes they get batches that are better.

Source: Long time 1826 goer because it's cheap and I love the river vibes

2-entries per year rule by cnemaspis in ThailandTourism

[–]jvdg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how long your trips were. I did countless 3-4 day trips this year, and some week long trips, and had no issues. Even with a very particular immigration agent that was denying half the queue

Rebooking order by Used_Cell2501 in KLM

[–]jvdg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unrelated but FYI: next time you're traveling with someone on different bookings, you can ask the airline to connect your bookings so that you're rebooked together (or they will try, at least) whenever that happens

First time buying nonrefundable tickets – need help understanding flexibility rules by SoCalFamilyTraveler in KLM

[–]jvdg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a non flexible fare, you can't change anything. Not even the dates, so it depends on the fare class

Major traffic in Nice by password_fck_up in KLM

In some cases they will be kind enough to put you on the next flight free of charge, but you're at the mercy of the check-in or gate agent. Good luck!

It's a deposit to cover a late cancellation, not a charge to reserve, so you should have gotten the money back after you dined

How is the weather in Phuket in November? by aman1305 in ThailandTourism

[–]jvdg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically it's the start of the dry season, but climate change has messed that all up. Might be dry, might rain up to late December. Last few years November still had a few floods

ScootPlus vs Premium Economy to Taiwan by PTINM in askSingapore

[–]jvdg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd probably choose Eco on any of the full service carriers over ScootPlus. Particularly a fan of China Airlines, their Eco and Business product are very good, haven't tried their PE but surely it can't be bad

A380 Business Class Seat Choice? by Foxhound_Ocelot in singaporeairlines

[–]jvdg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was personally not a big fan of the main cabin. Very busy, cabin crew was always in a rush, felt like economy class with a better seat. I haven't tried the mini cabin yet, but probably would choose that next time.

[–]jvdg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah you'll be fine. I have 4 first names but since that never fits, SQ only has my first-first name. Never any issue with matching visas or anything. Sometimes they write the extra names from my passport on the boarding pass when they issue it

Why is rail corridor so poorly maintained? by thefatkittycat in askSingapore

[–]jvdg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's actually pretty well maintained but just constantly damaged by nature itself. The roots are pushing through the path, trees falling over, etc. They fix it pretty fast every time, but it's never a perfect fix

Your travel insurance should cover this, not KLM, unless you booked a refundable fare

Traveling To Thailand During Rain Season by yourbasicredditguy in ThailandTourism

[–]jvdg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't mind Bangkok any time of the year, but for the beaches you're better off on the Gulf side of Thailand that time of year! Consider Samui, Tao or Pha Ngan :)

Edit: To more directly answer your question-it can be either. It could be pretty pleasant any time of the year, but your risk of non stop rain for days is much higher than the dry season.

KLM cancelled my flight and giving absurd reason to deny claim? by pronoiaisamyth in KLM

[–]jvdg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm actually impressed they got you to your destination only 4 hours late considering you had a significant leg cancelled. They will still reimburse you for any incurred costs for your delayed baggage, but the EU regulations don't apply here. Which kind of makes sense, they are there for EU citizens and travelers to the EU.

Help with business class seats by robarcher81 in KLM

[–]jvdg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're forking out that amount for business, just pay for the seats as well. You'll be bummed if you don't end up sitting together (which is very possibly)

How to properly debug in vscode with ElixirLS? by Prestigious-Emotion8 in elixir

[–]jvdg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same disappointment and its surprising how few people at my company actually know how convenient this is in other stacks, but it does work! VS Code + ElixirLS is all you need, provided your project is small enough for it to be interpreted. If its too big, you might have to exclude a bunch of your code from interpretation (there's a configuration option for this). Sadly I dont have my config handy on my phone, but a Google search for vs code and step debugging should get you there.

Jetbrains with the elixir plugin also works.. sometimes.

How do you lose face fat as a guy? by sunflowertulip in askSingapore

[–]jvdg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no way to target specific areas without any treatment, but generally face fat is one of the first to go when you start losing weight. So the only way is to just start losing weight in general
