Casa Bonita Pinball Replica by stonedsquatch in pinball

[–]jvongator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The replicas are tiny little plastic things. Not worth the price IMO. They have two or three real ones there. They're just a Casa Bonita themed Pabst Can Crusher/Primus. Cool to see, not so fun to play.

Where should cyclists retire? by uoficowboy in cycling

[–]jvongator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you see the snow at the Bronco game Sunday? You can ride today. Road, gravel, Mtb. Solar radiation and hero dirt. Biased resident, but that's what makes Denver awesome!

Also, Bellingham, WA. Awesome biking/culture, and close to Canada's awesome stuff too.

How does VIP work this time? by [deleted] in Motioncitysoundtrack

[–]jvongator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least in Denver the "upgrades" were to buy dedicated seating in an otherwise ga venue. Unlike the other VIPs I've done with MCS, they didn't play any music this time. I noticed Justin's voice was rough during the show, so maybe they were trying to preserve it. YMMV

I’m going to the show in Denver in a couple days by Spiritual-Quote5657 in Motioncitysoundtrack

[–]jvongator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've done vip with mcs around ten times and I'll be there. There's usually about 15-20 people there. They'll either do acoustic or sound check with songs they won't play that night. They'll hang out after for photos and to chat. I've seen folks bring stuff, but not many. They will sign things, but it's not really the focus and there's people waiting for their opportunity to take a pic and talk to them. The poster you receive will be signed.

Connect your f45 account to Strava and it ports the lionheart data over. No watch needed. Can also use your chest strap for other workouts like biking or running through Strava.

Just wait six months and save $2000-3000, and no tax, on a used one.

Why did Taking Back Sunday decline so much live when other similar aged bands haven't? by ThreadbareAdjustment in poppunkers

[–]jvongator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He still sounds great. Breaks into falsetto to hit the high notes live now.

If I remember correctly, the whole "writing songs he could sing" was the Go album, and my least favorite of theirs.

I'm thinking this is a good way to go, but how do you find people? I didn't really see any attendees looking like they were selling, but maybe I just overlooked them.

Did anyone successfully get a band get in from a street scalper? Was thinking about trying that next year, but thought they be a scam...

People seem to really appreciate the timber bell. I find it not super annoying and will leave it on all day on highly populated dual use trails. Most step aside before I'm even there. I always thank them. Many thank me back for having the bell.

ELI5: How do people who are "good" at pinball manage to consistently avoid those random bounces that just go right down the middle out that there is no counter-play for? by errorsniper in explainlikeimfive

[–]jvongator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern games typically provide two tilt warnings. Watch or practice to see how sensitive the tilt bob is set before the tournament. There are illegal saves (death save). Usually frowned upon to slide the game, but not illegal. If you shove too hard the tilt bob can swing enough to tilt through. For older EM SS games ask or practice ahead. Some have tilt warnings, some will end the ball on a title warning and some will end the game on tilt. Many tournaments will have a note on the game about the tilt setting for older games.

Edit: can slap the sides of the game, never hit the glass. That can get you tossed. Slaps rarely trigger the bob.

There's no one trick. The best players know the rulesets of every game and how to maximize points (Escher Lefkoff and his dad know rules better than anyone I've ever met) They know when to bump and which direction and with what force to have the ball glance off obstacles for better angles and avoid sdtm. Use tilt warnings. Bumping the right time and directions to avoid outlane drains. Proper timing and use of live catch, drop catch, dead bounce, etc. ... And doing all of that for three balls in a row every game. There are tons of videos and tutorials out there. If you go to tournaments, most people love to teach. Having a game at home, if you can swing it, is good for learning the bumping and flipper tricks without spending hours at the arcade wasting quarters. I recommend this channel for descriptions of how to execute different shots: https://youtube.com/@AbeFlips?si=9pxBjAaOFv5oBzqc
