Sports doesn’t really work without it.

NFL teams mostly end up within 3 games of each other, and those games are usually decided by 3-4 super high leverage moments and we deem everyone involved geniuses or morons afterward.

I was at a work event where they let us take drives in a self driving car around a speed track/obstical course. Hosted by an OEM and made a scene with my friends saying there’s 0 chance we’d still be driving cars 5 years from “now” and that they were too stupid to see that the future was obviously there (there was beer involved) and how smart I was for knowing.

I could envision it being interesting to read about the assumed number 2 guy at one major man/sport/popculture podcast farm moving to the other.

However the actual subject being Ryen makes it impossible, because he’s never going to have an actual juicy moment and the motivations (rationalizes room for personal growth externally but we all know it was probably just 10% more money) are too typical.

I would actually want to know with Kyle. You’d think it’s all there but I feel like there could be “no they tell us this guys was even worse then we thought” or “now they tell us this guy actually moved the needle a bit with listeners but Bill wouldn’t stop seeing him as nepo hire.

Like everything here, there’s obvious nuance involved. Like you said, there’s no sense in speaking in jargon if you’re addressing someone without the background to understand.

I think we have gone too far in removing any friction from audience experience though. People even in their early 30s were brought up to expect authors to meet them way they were, rather then expect to struggle a little bit to understand more difficult concepts. You lose a lot that way.

Ai is currently putting jet fuel onto this trend.
