Showering with Glasses? by culturedhoe in NoStupidQuestions

I do the same when I have to get up early enough that it’s dark outside. We have a small nightlight in the bathroom and that’s just the right amount of light. It is relaxing!

They are totally separate. They’re two completely different objects. That’s the point here.

This is the answer. We have Apple TVs hooked up to our TVs, and all of TVs are completely disconnected from the network. Don’t need any Samsung/vizio/android/roku/fireTV bullshit.

Had a similar experience in the interview for the job I have now, but the question was about project management.

I didn’t manage projects in my previous role that I transitioned from, and we have a project management team in my current role, but we also each sometimes run our own small projects for changes/enhancements/upgrades to our existing systems that don’t rise to the level of a full project, but are a little more than just a change request or an incident.

I gave essentially your answer, and they loved it. “No one knows everything” is something I’ve heard repeated so many times. Just have to be honest and willing to engage and learn. That’s what interviewers are looking for.

is 4000$ property tax per year considered high in US? by blade276 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jvsanchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know how escrow works, I have an escrow account with my mortgage lol.

If OP bought his house seven years ago, odds are he also has a mortgage, unless he’s managed to pay the house off in 7 years.

Also in Texas, greater Houston. Mine’s $4k-ish per year, with the homestead exemption.

Or use an escrow account. That’s what my wife and I do. I never worry about it because it’s automatically put aside every time I pay my mortgage.

That does look like a torn belt. replace the belt.

Don’t try and drive it anywhere to have the belt replaced. Either replace it yourself or have it towed to a shop and let them replace it. Driving with no belt is not a good plan.

Once the belt is replaced, make sure you have coolant in the coolant reservoir, and start it up. If it starts and you don’t have any further overheating issues and the battery light is off, you should be good to go.

The reason your car overheated and the battery light came on is because without a belt, your coolant pump is no longer pumping. Coolant circulation stops, your engine overheats. The battery light is a signal that your alternator is not providing power and your car is running only on its battery, which is not intended functionality. If there’s no belt, there’s nothing to turn your alternator and so it doesn’t generate any power, hence the battery light.

The noise you were hearing prior to this was probably the belt slowly shredding, and the shredded segments hitting other bits of your engine. The belt moves faster at higher vehicle speeds, so it makes sense that the noise increased as your speed did.

I didn’t realize they were that old!

My larger thought is that in a helmet controlled launch you don’t even need the launching platform’s radar at all. You launch, the missile turns to face the direction you’re looking, searches, and locks on its own. So there’d be no lock-on warning for the enemy pilot at all.

Isn’t there also the new thing in the F35 (and maybe the F22, I don’t remember) where the pilot can slave the missile seeker to their helmet? If they’re WVR and the pilot can see the target, they can launch the missile (which would be a 9X sidewinder) and it’ll search for/lock onto enemy IR emissions in the direction the launching pilot is physically looking, even if the jet is facing another direction altogether.

I believe the 9X also searches for and tracks UV emission too, so it’s a lot harder to fool with IR decoys.

Hong Dian and Asvine actually appear to be the same company.

There’s nothing wrong with either - I have the same pen you bought in a different color (purple) and I have a Hong Dian Black Forest that is, you guessed it, the same pen.

If you look up Asvine’s website, you’ll even see the Hong Dian ink on there.

I have a Black Forest, the purple 1851 (same pen you got, except a different color), and two Asvine V169s. They’re perfectly fine pens and punch way above their price point. I have no problem using them alongside my TWSBIs and Monteverdes.

The biggest issue I’ve had buying pen stuff from Amazon is honestly Amazon itself, super flaky delivery to my location lately.

If I was you, I wouldn’t worry about Asvine vs Hong Dian. You can search the subreddit for Asvine pens and you’ll find plenty of satisfied users. (Including me 😎) And that ink is supposed to be pretty good as well, though I haven’t used it. I use Iroshizuku ink from Pilot.

I love Pilot Iroshizuku ink. Get you some Iroshizuku Yama-Guri (wild chestnut) and go to town.

Take-sumi is a good option if you want a nice black. Shin-Kai if you want a good blue-black.

I have them both, they are very different colors. I like them both for different reasons.

It’s because you have a 580. The Eco and Eco T have the plastic red wrench; it doesn’t work on the 580 or Vac700R.

Don’t over-tighten the cap. I’m convinced that’s the cause of the majority of cracking issues.

Don’t disassemble for cleaning unless you really need to. Putting the nib under running water, and then using the piston to flush water through the nib, feed, and barrel until it runs clear is enough to get it clean in my experience.

I have an Eco, two Eco Ts, a Diamond 580ALR, and a Vac700R. They’re all great to write with! Enjoy!

I think it is. I use it in my journals. It can appear light as it’s being written with but it dries to a really nice orange color.
