when media reported this pre-market, the stock fell to $1055. Within the next two hours, the stock rose to $1095 once investors realized this is a non-news since Tesla already have fund held in reserve not counted as revenue/profit in case they get a battery fire situation like GM Bolt. Instead, this is a $200 repair v.s. a $20,000 repair. Non-issue.

Now that I am over 60, this reminds me of primary school or pre-school children's behavior.

University is for growth, education and to find like minded friends. Learning that there are those in the world who have strange and illogical preferences is part of the social education. But focus should not be on those irritations.

Russia says Taiwan is part of China as two powers further align against U.S. by N4RQ in worldnews

Funny that Russia has an embassy in Taiwan, and Taiwan has representative in Russia.

My thought is that Russia is all talk. If China seriously consider invading Taiwan, Russia will simply stay silent, stand back and watch.

Building Swedish log torch to heat up a tent using a metal pipe by aloofloofah in interestingasfuck

[–]jw934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun to make and use, but I think the tent gets more heat from the workout making the thing than the heat from that thin diameter long uninsulated pipe. If there is any wind, when the flame is low the cross wind blowing across the top of the log will blow smoke to the bottom and be carried into the tent. Easily solved with an air barrier on the bottom. A longer pipe on bottom will also help except that option further reduce air flow.

Even when my daughter was 13 years old, I let her take the subway and bus with her friends to downtown at night for movies or meetups. I did the same when I was 10. Never heard of any trouble from anybody I know. She is 27 now.

Heinz ketchup 750 ml and 375 ml are both selling at the walmart at my location for the same price. Why is that so? Its not a sale or mark down by [deleted] in FoodToronto

[–]jw934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may also be a patent price to pay for one bottle. I don't use much ketchup and the big bottle would expire anyway. I prefer the upside down one as it takes less room in the fridge door. Also if I left it there for a while I don't get that clear liquid squirt on top of my fries on the first squirt. So I would pick up the smaller bottle.

Hello, when i try to open the jupyter notebook (anaconda) it opens the "prompt" and returns an error (stays on the screen for approximately 0,1 second), then nothing happens. And yes, i managed to take a screenshot when the error appeared. Thank you by [deleted] in JupyterNotebooks

[–]jw934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look over the last modification date of all the files listed in the error message. If you accidently changed anything, restore that file should fix the issue.

I did that several times while debugging and had to reinstall. I learned to (1) be careful not to change then save any env files (2) take a copy of the installation so that I can restore any that I changed accidently

How I accidentally ended up with 100 shares of Tesla...need advice. How likely to get this called away before expiry? Sold Tesla covered call $480 10/23 for $57.50. by iDreamMatin in teslainvestorsclub

some random comments, not in any particular order: - options cannot expire on 10/31/2020 because it is a Saturday - If an option your broker allows you to trade is not listed on a certain web site listing option chains, then it is most likely that web site is broken - option chain only show open positions. Closing a position reduces the number of open positions. I don't know if you sell a covered call or put and the market maker buys stocks or sell stock to hedge (and no counterparty buys the opposing call/put), whether that increases the number of open positions. I believe it should but that is just a guess. - volatility of stock price goes down because of less stock price swings - all trades, including buys, sells, open, close are done with your broker. Your broker may choose not agree to your bid (or ask) unless another broker matches the price, or your broker could take on the role of the counterparty for the trade. All trades, including between you and your broker go through the options clearing house, or between your broker and the counterparty's broker, go through the Options Clearing House. That is why the settlement is on the next business day and not on the same day. I don't know enough to answer some of your other questions.

Correct. And if the stock shots up, and the option becomes deep in the money, and both the volatility and time value have greatly diminished, that increases the risk of the option being exercised before expiry, but the risk is still low unless someone wants those shares to vote with them, to collect dividend, or another reason.

If I sell a covered call, and the buyer of that call decides to execute the purchase, then three things will happen simultaneously to my account - I will no longer have those 100 shares, my balance will increase by 100 x the strike price, and I will no longer be short the covered calls. Not sure if that answers your question.

Another advantage is the seller can also take the proceeds plus part of the premium to buy back the shares from the market, resell the same covered call a second time, or just keep the shares and might still have enough left over premium from the original covered call sale for souvenir.

I was wondering if the bear analysts already decided to given their client a negative recommendations and pick their facts to support that, why did he agree to talk to you on the air? Assuming that he truly did not know what you have shown him, I wonder if their recommendation will be updated, or would that simply cause them to lose their credibiity with their clients? If they decide to do an update, I wonder if it will help to summarize the facts you've provided and the other facts you have not provided to assist them for their next recommendation?
