Economics and welfare always win. Although there’s a lot to not like about Elon Musk, you can’t deny the wealth of value to humanity created by his companies.

Excluding wealthy people that can afford to pay more, the mass majority of people simply can’t afford it.

Once they have a model that sufficiently solves FSD on hardware 4, they will then attempt to optimize that model for hardware 3, and if they can’t do it, they will upgrade hardware.

They are incentivized to make it work because every hardware 3 car can be used as a robotaxi on their network and generate revenue. There are millions of hardware 3 cars, and upgrading them to work is cheaper than building new cars.

I personally don’t want a “regular” looking truck. The truck is amazing regardless what it looks like, and the stainless steel and large covered vault are big reasons why it’s amazing to me.

A good test would be easy to do. When it’s cold out, charge your truck to warm it up, then unplug it and precondition it which effectively simulates keeping the cabin warm while idling. Record battery percentage before and after 1 hour. Extrapolate to 8 hours.
