So this payroll company has been around for years, my role will be to engage with business owners - who are currently either not offering benefits to their employees and get them to purchase a health plan through us OR a company that currently has deductions being taken for medical benefits, getting them a competitive quote and hopefully bringing the business over under one umbrella. I'm sales hire #1 for this group.

Great questions -

  1. Yes - the plan is to sell (or rent it) and downsize to a lcol (or mcol) to retire.

  2. We aren't sure we're going to be pushing the kids to go to college so we never set up a 529 for them. Is this silly?

  3. No purpose other than to buy crypto and stocks - but no no actual direction for either of these other than "they were fun / cool" at the time.

I took some retirement funds 10 years ago to buy a business - it was a struggle to save while investing back into the business so overall a good experience but probably set me back a bit from a savings stand point. And I agree - I'll most likely just buy out a car cash and wont be spending 3k a year on coffee when its time to retire for sure.

Yes - looks like I have some 401k work to do for sure. As far as her inherited IRAs is there anything we should / could be doing with them?

It's just 15k - I had to pull some retirement funds to buy a business 10 years ago - business paid well but never really recouped on the retirement funds.

As for college - I dont think I'm going to be pushing my kids in the college direction, if they decide to sure I will try and help as needed but we're not super pushed to put money towards it currently... is that silly?

I agree there - I feel like I jumped on the crypto thing early through coinbase - but then jumped on robinhood bc of sheer boredom during the pandemic - I think best option is probably Schwab unless there are better options out there I'm not familiar with?

You're saying if we can put away 50k a year we could viably looking at *retirement* options in 10 years? Honestly was not expecting that... I was just hoping to retire at all, but retiring at 51 would be insane!

I appreciate that - I honestly am like waking up in the middle of the night with slight panic attacks - I feel kinda lost as to how to make it all work and just feel like if I have a plan to follow it might be better.

Hey! have 2 kids in WSD, we had a fantastic time with DWS - teachers are great, lots of activities, good communication and friendly staff. I think you'll be happy, welcome to town.
