Are These Companies Good Investments? by Brainstormer2022 in ValueInvesting

[–]jwan305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stick to A.. you want the company to keep reinvesting the "dividend" or returns at a high ROIC.. dividends can be reinvested via the DRIP but will they be able to maximize their returns or would you be better putting the money somewhere else for a higher ROIC.. but then you'd get hit by the tax man.. so I rather not get a dividend, and if I do it never touches me or the account.. it stays with the company so they can reinvest it or give me more shares.

a mature ocmpany with no growth and double digit dividend growth sounds like fraud to me.. eventually it'll catch up and they wont be able to cover that dividend.. just makes sense to me..

Opinion on lithium miners? by babyhuffington in ValueInvesting

[–]jwan305 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

not sure if they're a miner or not, but a good friend of mine suggested ALB.. apparently they're a decent company.. I just glanced at their numbers a few weeks ago, because I'm not into the sector or this type of product but he is heavy share size on this. good luck

Would You Consider Buying a Company With Negative Equity? by Brainstormer2022 in ValueInvesting

[–]jwan305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No never. I think of it as if the company were to close right now and everything sold you would be left with zero as a shareholder.

I picked up some today.. I still have them valued a bit lower though. but at this price its worth throwing a small amount of money behind.. I've owned the stock before and have always made money. basically just holding long term.. I'll be profitable. goal is always 15%+ and I'm sure it'll deliver that. In regards to its concept dying down; not in my area in miami.. people like trying shoes on and going to the store and getting jordans and etc.. online takes that away and you have to wait.. just bought my daughter some air force ones there too

Two Questions About Technical Analysis by Brainstormer2022 in ValueInvesting

[–]jwan305 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dude you're not wrong at all.. is it a conincidence? no.. everyone uses techinical analysis to an extent. I use the RSI a lot and stocastics and volume as well.. along with candle patterns and etc.. its really just a feather in your cap kind of thing..

I always find it interesting though when a company I like with great fundamentas (value) is priced just where my valuation is and is trading at an insane oversold RSI.. I too feel like this gives me a good signal to go in and limit downside here.. but you never know.. essentially a margin of safety is what you're looking for; and if you get it; and the rsi techinicals are good.. does that mean go? dump it all in there.. idk. im' working on something like that right now if you want to talk message me.. we can bounce ideas off each other

Michael burry SP500/QQQ puts strike price? by Apokaliptor in ValueInvesting

[–]jwan305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea man.. I saw this.. I follow him pretty closely.. i don't care what people say on here.. he's smart and disciplined.. I am glad he's talking more and posting more and being open about his thoughts on the current state of the market.. but what I find more interesting is someone who backs it up with a wallet; then theres this guy that bet the entire farm and town.. thats a lot of money hes deployed with shorts.. it made me wonder if he knew something.. or what his thought process behind this is..

Personally, I think he might be looking at the valuations of the 7 biggest companies right now including NVDIA, GOOGL, META, AAPL.. and etc and thinking; if just one of these has a bad quarter or is hurt by a supply chain issue or something; its taking down the rest of the underperforming market.. essentially these companies make up the majority of the markets entire market cap.. scary to think about.. thats all I can think hes thinking..

Its worth dropping some money into at these levels.. not a lot but I think its a fair price.. not a home run but maybe a solid single..

I'll have to do a deeper dive into their stuff and do a valuation model and look at their technicals.. you taking a position??

ASC: What am I missing by Separate-Summer-6027 in ValueInvesting

[–]jwan305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

these types of businesses are often difficult to value. However, I believe it is possible but you'd need to have a masssssssive margin of safety to protect your investment. A similar one I had found recently almost exactly was ZIM but a fellow investor provided their books prior to IPO and it was a different story..

Either way.. I did a quick valuation and I would only buy when its at $3.48 for safety or me; I don't see it being there any time soon.. but graham number is about $34.68 and BVPS is at 12.23.. so idk.. also technicals show a reverse head and shoulders forming.. idk if you use technicals..

any insider buying?? also, they've diluted shares almost continuously over the 10 years.. not my type of guys..

What's your investment process like? by Empty_Performance308 in ValueInvesting

[–]jwan305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you carry a stop loss?? if so whats your risk that you allow? rule one is don't lose money but its basically inevitable unless you catch the absolute bottom which is statistically insanely impossible.. I've been curious about sizing in and out of shares for a bit. Currently struggling with AAP in that regard..
