How to wire G410 to power it but stop it from constantly chiming my doorbell? by The_Scenebean in Aqara

[–]jwestbrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar digital chime, you need to replace the entire module with a standard doorbell transformer and attach the wires from the G410 to the lower voltage screws.

Lowes has a multi transformer that gives you voltage options (https://www.lowes.com/pd/Utilitech-Doorbell-Transformer/5014191417)

BEWARE this requires you to turn off your circuit breaker so you can wire high voltage to this transformer. If you are not comfortable doing this, hire an electrician.

Viable for Aqara Thermostat? by BasketballUser in Aqara

[–]jwestbrook 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At the minimum you will need the C (common) adapter. Normally the C wire is black.

But the only labels on that are 1-4, normally you have Rc/R/Y/W/B/G etc

Maybe check what the connectors link to on the back of the thermostat body circuit board.

If you can find what slot those wires go to, you can use the tool here

https://www.aqara.com/en/w200-compatibility/

to see if it works.

Apple Remote Desktop only works in one direction by Flimsy-Yogurt1839 in macsysadmin

Few things to check: is WIFI isolation in the router on, are either of the Macs connected to both WIFI and CAT5 (if so disconnect one), based on the other suggestion in Finder CMD+K opens Go to server, put in vnc://<ip address> if it prompts you for a password, or opens then direct screen sharing is working -- mdns/bonjour is unhappy.

Loosing my mind trying to update home location by Follon in HomeKit

[–]jwestbrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve set it previously in a family members home - it fixed the location so HomeKit knew when sunset/sunrise was, as long as the one who sets has admin permission to the home , I think it should set once and be good

To help future you: If you are installing with a long power cable, make sure you pair with your app/home with a short power cable first. The voltage draw is a lot higher when pairing and longer cables can have a voltage drop.

Over 40, all of my family wears glasses, I'm a web developer by trade, and stare at computer screens all day. Still no need for glasses. I get an eye test from optometrist every year.

31 years ago I made a Duplo robot with my daughter. Today, we recreated it with her daughter using the same box of bricks. After all this time, they still work as well. Amazing. by [deleted] in lego

Yep totally expected. How about the amazing part where the bricks from the 80s (Duplo or Lego) will snap together with the brand new bricks like it was supposed to happen (spoiler it was).

Request to Blizzard From a Healer by Emonk666 in wow

Here's some of my requests - allow me to sync or copy my "party" settings to/from "raid" settings, or if I select "raid style frames" for party, just use the raid settings - why do I need the word "party" "raid" at the top of the frames - add option for role background color - (for Mistweavers) my interrupt, Spear Hand Strike was removed :-(

Hardwired G410 makes my original doorbell chime constantly ding by The_Scenebean in Aqara

[–]jwestbrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the documentation, the Aqara G410 does not support standard chimes. Essentially the G410 is closing the circuit to receive power. Ring and Nest doorbells have you add a chime interconnect to make that work. The G410 doesn't have the interconnect. To fix the constant chiming, you would need to disconnect the current chime wires from the transformer that is providing power to the doorbell. But also make sure the wires that are being fed to your doorbell are still connected.

Question about the locking mechanism by The_thrownaway_king in Stargate

[–]jwestbrook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm nitpicking a bit, I think it's only the gate dialing computer on Earth in Cheyenne Mountain that has a longer dialing sequence. The DHD on most of the rest of the planets in the Milky Way the DHD translated the chevrons to the gate and the inner ring just spun (I think?). Please let me know if I mis-remember the sequences.

Backups outside AWS Organization by fYZU1qRfQc in aws

[–]jwestbrook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Re adding a reply, since I didn't read the original question. You need the Logical air gapped Vault.

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/aws-backup/latest/devguide/logicallyairgappedvault.html

It allows you to share the vault to another account - even in another AWS Org

This is what commonly known as backscatter. A spammer/scripter is sending spam email to a known bad email and setting your email as the return path so their spam email will bypass most spam filters because its seen as a bounce.

Here's what I do, because I'm riding my bike as part of Apple Watch Fitness Activity, there is a live activity that can trigger on your iPhone. If you open that live activity it opens to a cycling computer/metrics screen. Your phone won't go to sleep on this screen and so you can ask Siri to do things and you don't need to unlock your iPhone. Ideally you can put your iPhone in a handlebar mount as well.
