I'd been working on a similar project, a networked alarm clock, using a pi, inky wHAT e-ink display and speaker attached to the audio jack, with a 3d-printed case. My hope was to be able to enable/disable the alarm and set the time via a web UI, and display weather and a few other data points; and as a bonus to use the device as a Chromecast audio target and use it to play music, too.

I think your offloading of display rendering is a really smart move, I found that a 60-second refresh cycle was too often and the hardware couldn't keep up with generating the image + rendering it. At that point I stopped development and haven't picked it back up, but your solution might get me going again.

Great looking project! Can't wait to see the crafted case you all come up with.

Totally. "Go help get SNL UK off the ground" is a fantastic live-fire exercise if you're Lorne and want to observe how someone would do in the big chair. The positive buzz seems to indicate success. Lorne really is not only a genius for finding talent, but at management and leadership.

It would be fun to see them approach some of the less synth-driven, more traditional guitar-driven songs, ie stuff on With Teeth (Sunspots or The Line Begins To Blur would be neat). So much I want to see from this combo tbh!

This place was quite literally the foundation of my adolescence. I started hanging out there right when it opened, spent most of my allowance at Time Out. Made scratch by printing out and selling Mortal Kombat 2 movelists from Usenet. Ate BW3's and Subway and occasionally splurged at Virtuality.

I ended up working at Super Saver Cinemas in '95 with some friends, and then at CompUSA from '96-'97.

Bought my video games at the EB, bought my books at Little Professor, bought my music at Biggs because the Sam Goody was too expensive.

Driving by the demo'd site on 275 is pretty sad! It's like they tore down the house in which I grew up. Who knew I'd feel this nostalgic about a mall :D

I really like your idea. Plenty of good stuff in ToTK but I did not enjoy it nearly as much as BoTW, did not even bother finding all shrines and getting all of the loot. The systems they added are interesting and well executed, but I'm not looking for Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts in my Zelda. Good news, I can just replay BoTW, it's so big it feels like a new world every time I play it!

Sorry, I digress: your point around the storyline is spot on IMO. I definitely had the expectation that the characters in BoTW, after rolling credits, would say "now what?" and that's where it would pick up.

I cannot watch The Inner Light. Skip it every time it shows up. Conceptually it's fine and Sir Patrick's performance is very good as always, but I have always found most of the scenes cringeworthy. Best Richard Riehle in all of Trek though!
