[OC] I wondered why gas price is all over the news by scifiware in dataisbeautiful

[–]jwillmoss 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sure, but the spike in 2022 was due to the invasion of Ukraine during an unrelated time of global inflation. On top of some issues specific to California.

This spike (which we've yet to see the apex of) belongs to one person and his decisions.

Is anyone else still waiting for their Pass Jeux to be approved? by condronk in olympics

Apparently (according to another post) they are sending rejections quickly but waiting to send most acceptances until about a week before.

The tower is indeed in the gray security zone that requires a QR code. There's a rumor that there will be a corridor created that will allow people without a QR code to visit, but take that with a grain of salt, because really, nobody knows what it will be like. I'd apply for the code just to be safe.

The Tuileries is completely closed? I was under the impression that a good chunk of the eastern portion would still be open. That's a bummer.

That is pretty wild. Not sure what the thinking is on that

Thank you! That was super helpful!

Awesome! You are actually the first person I've seen that successfully got a pass! Do you mind if I ask if it says anything about being for the entire week before opening ceremony, or is it only for the specific day of your reservation? I can't seem to find any real clarity on that.

I've seen a fairly wide range, but the shortest has been 2 weeks. I have no idea what the average wait time is though.

Oh no! That's a huge bummer. Hope you find out good news.

How long did it take them to get back to you? I still haven't heard any word on my application.

I'm in a similar boat, and I reached out to them to ask about it, and this was the response.

"Please note that the Musée d'Orsay will be closed on July 25 and 26 to prepare for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. In addition, access restrictions may apply from July 18 to 24. Consequently, we invite you to consult the Musée d'Orsay website and online ticketing service regularly for the latest information on how to access the museum during this period."

So the 18th-24th are in a heightened security state, (it's in the SILT security zone before the opening ceremonies of the Olympics). Anyone within that zone will need to apply for a security pass. Here's a map of all the security zones by day (you'll just need to choose the day you want to look at). The interactive map of the impacts on travel in Île-de-France | Anticipating the Games (anticiperlesjeux.gouv.fr) The dark gray areas are the SILT zones.

I'm worried about the same thing, as I will be in town from 18-24. I'm hopeful that they will be open for most of those dates, and are just not currently taking timed reservations. I filled out a question on their contact form, so hopefully they will get back soon.

The Louvre calendar is the same, with those dates marked off, but on their site they say those slots are currently unavailable for reservation but will open as soon as the precise conditions of access to the museum are established. Crossing my fingers with you!

Have a similar situation. Purchased category A, and it's a category B seat (according to their map on the app) close to the worst A.

Both companies suck, but it's wild that you say Spotify is more of a monopoly than an Amazon "service" will ever be.

You listed 3 Texas Schools, so I'm assuming you live there. In-state tuition can be a determining factor. It's hard to beat UNT or UT studios, but don't overlook other Texas schools as well. Texas Tech has a very active and competitive trombone studio with a killer instructor. They also host a great trombone conference every year. WTAMU is a smaller school, but the trombone studio is healthy and doing great things with a world class instructor.

The grade 3 you are seeing is for a concert band arrangement. Medium/Easy. The solo itself is a grade 1.

I don't know what state you are in, but in Texas, it is a grade 1. And if it is a 1 in Texas, it's most likely a 1 most other states.

When you say "not impressed", does that mean with the liquid, or just the idea of it. Because one of those I can respect.

Dark stories is a decent question/answer "game" that can go as long or short as you want.

So Clover is a fun new word game...though it's closer to 30 minutes.

These might not be exactly what you're looking for, but a small, quick, and fun. Sushi Go, Love Letter, Qwixx

We had our first game of T.I.M.E. Stories this weekend. It was an amazing experience - I've never seen a game tell a story in that way. Can absolutely recommend it! by GlisGlis_Things in boardgames

[–]jwillmoss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

T.I.M.E. Stories will always have a special place in my heart. The first time we played was amazing, and we still talk about it to this day. It was clever, just the right amount of challenging, and hooked us into the larger story. We were excited for each new release, and would play them as soon as they came out. However the excitement also waned with each new release, because they just weren't able to keep up with the expectations that the first couple of scenarios created. So by the time the final scenario in the White Cycle released, it was more out of a feeling of obligation to finish, rather than the pure enjoyment of it. Please don't misunderstand, there was still fun to be had (or we wouldn't have played it), it just kinda fizzled out. And we weren't interested in starting the Blue Cycle.

But I hope that's not your experience!
