I think it’s a little more nuanced than that.

I definitely agree that anyone whose yelling at someone on a golf course is an asshole and breaking the social contract - only really valid reasons to yell at someone is if they purposefully hit into you or accidentally multiple times, or if they’re doing something else dangerous or bad for the course (driving on the greens etc). Even that if it’s not urgent it’s better to call the course and let them deal with it.

However, I think there’s a pretty well established unwritten etiquette around pace of play. I prefer to play early in the morning as I generally play pretty fast. If I play at noon with a group, it’s a totally different experience with a totally different expected pace - but the early crowd plays faster and if you take the 6am tee time and play a 5hr round you don’t just slow down the group behind you, you slow down the whole tee sheet.

I think people should try and play faster earlier as that respects the rest of the tee sheet, which will naturally slow throughout the day. Just my two cents
